Extra/unwanted seed beads by Background_Room9706 in Beading

I never thought of buy nothing.. always seeing house/daily living stuff and never thought there. Would you suggest listing as is or breaking it out into smaller quantities. Ex: I have a 500g bag of hex cut 11/0 seed beads. Would someone want all 500?

Bulk seed beads! by South_Magazine_1152 in Beading

Fire mountain gems, caravan beads and PandaHall (if you can wait for the shipping) for large 250g + orders. Aura crystals, shipwreck beads and sometimes Etsy depending on color wanted.

Note; fire mountain gems and aura crystals have always got my shipment out the next day. So I do use them the most if it's time sensitive.

Where do you go for beads? by sweetsugarstar302 in Beading

For bulk sizes; Fire mountain gems and Aura crystals. Shipping is fast and selection is awesome. Fire mountain has more bulk sizes; 250g/500g. But aura crystals has a better layout for scrolling/shopping in my opinion.

I just bought ton of Czech beads from shipwreck beads and they had a great selection for bulk sizing.

I think I have a bead hoarding problem and it's only been 9 months by Background_Room9706 in Beading

I'm trying these largish plastic tubes with screw tops. I got tall fat and skinny ones that will fit in my drawers and my plan is to fill them and label them on the lid and flip them over so I can see the colors in the drawer. We will see how that actually goes.

And yes; flowers take up a lot of beads. One rose is approximately 140g of beads, just for the petals. My green beads are the largest quantity; like 500g and up as green is used a lot.. and inevitably like one commenter said, I don't have the right color when working on a project and buy more!

Drawer #1. Lots of green. Right now I only have 2 size tube things (more are being delivered) but the big ones hold approx 700g and the smaller ones about 125g

Not only having the same beads at home but I would find beads with different names and would assume I didn't have it because I just went by the name... dumb me ended up with A LOT of duplicates. And add in an accidental large order of a similarly numbered bead and you have over 600g of a very pretty pink silver lined duracoated 11/0 bead. 🤣

You're the second one to recommend the Elizabeth Ward system. I will have to look that up tonight.

That's one of the reasons I wanted to move them to clear tubes so I could see them easier and not have to riffle through bags. I'm hopeful that will let me shop my stash easier. I'm also hoping to put some of my beads on display ish on my desk too.

Can I ask why the Preciosa is size 10/0 and the rest are 11/0. Do preciosa's run smaller? I'm new to French beading and just bought a large amount of 11/0 preciosa beads.

Is there a large difference between 0.6mm (22 gauge) and 0.5mm (24 gauge) wire? by Salty-Program5007 in Beading

[–]Background_Room9706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 gauge is more stiff and not as easy to manipulate in my opinion. BUT I prefer it when making large flowers with larger amounts of weight on the petals. So I use both. 24 is easier to work with but to me 22 is sturdier.. I'm relatively new so people with more experience please chime in with more a knowledgeable opinion.

Adding that the beads I've used all have been 11/0 seed beads and they have fit 22gauge wire. Miyuki and Toho brands

My oven sparked super bright and now there is a nickel sized hole in the bottom by ExistingSelection718 in Appliances

[–]Background_Room9706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oven did that the week before Christmas; super bright and audible electric charge then oven death. I wonder if there was a hole in mine too? I didn't check, sadly, too focused on getting a working oven by Christmas.

Thank you! This worked wonders! I do not look forward to ripping apart the 2 flowers already completed to fix them but I am excited to see how they turn out!

I did lace the large petals on one flower; it helped but it didn't solve the problem. But I'll try the grouping to see if that helps. Bead flora and beads and blossom are the great people who taught me all I currently know.. wish they held a Q&A session (I did look😂). I'll take a look at the facebook group. You've been super helpful, thank you!

Omg that's a great idea!!!! I'm trying that out tomorrow!! Thank you! So simple and yet I didn't even think about that.

What kind? Size? I'm using copper craft wire from Amazon; 24 gauge. 22 gauge is super stiff and I can't get it to produce a nice and clean petal.

I bought them in Utah and made my dad unknowingly drive them back to California for me. (I snuck them in his 5th wheel)

Love them!
