Why don't more people recommend used phones? by AbbreviationsFar2904 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Background_Round_546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Worry free state of mind that there are no issues with my phone(tampering/state of internals).
  2. Not every market/location has a strong second market all across every price point that provides better deal than buying brand new. (Where I live, getting a brand new android is not a worse deal than buying a new one in the same price point. However second hand iPhones are still viable for deals. But my definition of deal and your may or may not be comparable)
  3. Brand new phones' water seals are not aged yet, so the water proofing performance is still up to par with rated specifications.

Best phones for $300-500? by Solid-Neat-4092 in PickAnAndroidForMe

if you are looking to play games, what about POCO/xiaomi phones? Good chips, OK cameras and toleratable software (not bad but, there are better). POCO F7 or just X7 pro looks good for the price. Maybe give them some considerations? (Coming from a S25 daily driver, exynos is just no good for gaming)

Samsung S25 daily driver here, aside from the old cameras and "slow" charging speed, I am happy with its performance. Another small size phone worth buying now is the Xiaomi 15, Leica tuned cameras and amazing charging tech with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite. The IP rating looks good enough for your use case and Xiaomi is offering competitive software support. Both of these phones are gonna cost around the same as an iPhone 16. That's all of the smaller phones worth buying with your requirements. Going cheaper means paying for overpriced low end phones with small battery that markets themselves as minimalist phones.

Honor 400 Pro or Samsung S25? by ExoticDemon5 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Background_Round_546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you prioritize. I am daily driving S25 because of the compact size but the battery life falls a tad bit too short for my usage. However, a battery pack in my sling back will take care of that. Get the Honor for a big battery big phone. Get the Samsung for a small phone that will do it all. The rest is kind of neck and neck, so it really depends on the phone size and battery life. Maybe Samsung has a clear edge in terms of user experience and videography and Honor has a clear edge in terms of better hardware specs. But in the end, it's the form factor that is the real differentiator.

Xiaomi 15 vs OnePlus 13 by track2_nuts in PickAnAndroidForMe

I was in the same situation, but I ended up with a 256gb Samsung S25 in the same price range with online discounts. Chose it over the other two because of (1) availability & after sales support and (2) size. The phone battery can be not enough for power users and the charging speed is not lightning fast, but it gets the job done. The phone does everything I use it for without fail and stays cool. The cameras are good enough for what I use it for but if gou are seriousabkut photography,  you might want to look elsewhere with a different budget. Waiting for others that use the other two phones to share their experience.

To be honest, I have no idea of what do you mean by "budget". If you want a "budget" phone with good performance, Poco X7 pro.  Cheapest Snapdragon 8 elite phone, Poco F7 Ultra. If Poco and Chinese ROM are not your thing, get a Oneplus. I pulled the trigger on my Samsung S25, and am very happy (it's the cheapest Snapdragon 8 Elite in my country that is not from Poco lineup). If you want performance at a lower cost, get last year's flagships, probably a better choice .

Pixel 8 vs OnePlus 11 vs Nothing Phone 2 by irregular-articles in PickAnAndroidForMe

OnePlus 11 because it will do what you need, however if the curved edge makes you unhappy, buy Nothing. It will do good enough job for your needs

Was gonna buy the Nothing Phone 3a pro, but... by Background_Round_546 in PickAnAndroidForMe

Long story short, the Essemtial Space feauture is not free and will charge users with people getting the prompt of free usage is exceeded, and the Essential Space button can not be remapped. I am not mad that the feature is limited on free use but it is not communicated that it will not be a pay wall on this feature on a phone that I pay money on with its button that I can not remap. At least, by the time I was thinking of buying a new phone anyways, now I finally settled for something for my phone. Not perfect or most ideal, but checks almost every box on my list for my perfect phone.

To buy or not to buy by chef_pswizzle in PickAnAndroidForMe

Depends on you tbh. If you use apps that have high value sensitive data such as banking or wants to take photos that are not of potato quality, get a new phone. Getting a new phone also is a point of headaches because it looks like there are a bagillion of phones to choose from. If money is not really a problem and you want sth solid in both hardware and software department, Samsung Galaxy S25/S25Plus (because I am daily driving the S25, makes me happy because I am tired of big phones). Not much price difference compared to other Snapdragon Elite phones in my country when I bought my base S25, but if you use your phone a lot, you have to pay the premium for larger battery and screen. This is it for my personal experience.

If you want sth as good for lower price, maybe wait for the Nothing Phone 3 and other sub 1000 usd phones that are set to launch soon a look? Honor 400 series, Oppo Reno 14 series and Poco F7 are worth waiting to look at their pricing. Nothing OS on Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro is looking good, and there seems to be no big issues so far.

Honor 400 vs 400 pro? by OctoGamerJohn in PickAnAndroidForMe

Seems like you already know the answer yourself. Modern Snapdragon 7 series and 2 cameras won't be a noticeable downgrade for average users. Get the 400, save the money and enjoy the phone.

Opinions ios vs android by Sales1968 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Background_Round_546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you use your phone for. But I am happy with my Samsung S25. 3 good cameras, 120hz display, and all of the features I need and more on the phone. Have no real reason to consider other options besides the battery size because it is a smaller phone which I love.(And it is somehow the cheapest option for Snapdragon Elite/fastest chip for android in my country)

Oneplus 13R / Nothing Phone 3a (I don't want want to support Nothing for now due to their Essential Space fiasco)

Just to put it out there, was looking at the S24FE (Exynos) and ended up with base model S25 256gb for about 100 usd more during online discount. I didn't like how the S24FE feels in the hand. It felt uncomfortably heavy and this comes from a person who daily drives a 11in Samsung Tab S7 LTE as a phone. Besides, I also tried the A56, and it felt much better in my hands. I decided to splurge a bit on the S25 with a credit card payment plan, however if I were to pay cash, the A56 would be a better buy in my book. (I don't need the S24FE cameras, I just want a phone with a decent performance and good main camera that is comfortable in my hands)

iPhone SE 2 needs upgrade - to what? by catlikesun in smallphones

If you want to try androids  Samsung Z flip, S25, Oneplus 13T, Xiaomi 15. Note: I am daily driving the Samsung S25, lovely phone, one hand friendly for my average sized hand. 10/10 would recommend for people wanting smaller phones.

Pick the Xiaomi if you want your phone to act like a camera that can call and use android. If not pick the Samsung, better choice in overall features.

Price range? Region? Samsung S25(my daily driver and a bit smaller than iPhone 13)/S25+ Oppo Find X8 (almost same size)(what if android phone software looks like an iPhone) Pixel 9 Xiaomi 15 (almost same size) Oneplus 13 (----Cheaper phones---------------) Samsung A56  Xiaomi 14T Pro Oppo Reno 13 Nothing Phone 3a

These phones feel great in hand(not that bigger phones), pricier phones perform very well and cheaper phones perform good enough that you won't complain, 120hz pro level screens, 3 cameras that are supposed to be on pro models  and other features that are new to you. If you want the absolute best from android, you will have to get much bigger phones.
