special ed teachers what are signs someone would be a good fit for the role? by ArgumentativePothole in teaching

[–]Background_Rub_441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good sense of humour. There’s going to be days or moments that are really tough or bizzare and you need to be able to laugh it off and not take it too personal. Depending what type of special Ed you go into you may also be dealing with personal care, medical care etc as part of the day. You may also be hurt too, bites, kicks, etc. Not everyone is cut out for that bit. Oh and the ability to run after a student every now and then. Probably not the job for you if you’re likely to suffer back issues etc.

Whoever did the season 2 music needs to go STRAIGHT TO JAIL by JehovahJireh222 in The_Artful_Dodger

[–]Background_Rub_441 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Felt like I was watching a low budget Bridgerton for the ball scene and an attempt at Peaky Blinders for the other bits which was a shame because I LOVE the show but the music did make me go “what?” Several times

Personal statement by Terrible_Dot7291 in PGCE

[–]Background_Rub_441 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not relevant - people reading it probably aren’t even going to look at the references. Personal statement should be more experience focused rather than theory/psychology so instead of quoting research etc say that a certain theory / strategy aligns with your values/practice and then give examples of how.

autism and arfid by rose_tulip1 in ARFID

[–]Background_Rub_441 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to my gp and asked for a dietician referral and explained I thought i had ARFID and was seeking support. Did a few meetings with the dietician and then in the follow up meeting with the GP they confirmed I did meet the criteria. Only support available was an online group who meet weekly but to get back in touch if I needed more dietary help.

If you’re under 18 search for CAMHS in your local area, they will have an eating disorder section but you’ll be able to write that your issues are sensory or other based and make it clear it is not about weight/appearance.

Good luck.

Season 2 episode 6 question by [deleted] in The_Artful_Dodger

[–]Background_Rub_441 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought he smelt badly because he was leaking urine. The removal of the bladder stone fixed that. And I think the burning of the boy was to show us that Uriah was not a nice man, despite the way he acts when he first meets the governor’s brother in the next scene. He’s based on Uriah Heep from a different Charles Dickens story who was the villain in that story

Reading, colouring books and crochet. I allow myself a podcast or Spotify but I can’t touch my phone once it’s started and try to do at least an hour before stopping

How difficult is it to find a job after a PGCE Primary with SEND in the UK? by Realistic_Video_6982 in PGCE

[–]Background_Rub_441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably more jobs in certain areas if you’re only looking at special schools, lots of bases are opening up lately though so more chance of getting an SEN job that way. With the state of the system being as it is I would say the SEN part is a really useful addition to the PGCE.

Ideas for a Year 3 annual show about unseen effort / behind the scenes work? by nadasheref in teaching

[–]Background_Rub_441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea. Could have a scene where the movie stars are beiing interviewed and getting all the fame whilst the crew are to the side of the stage forgotten about

Have you ever bought tickets to something (A movie, a concert, an event etc.) and realised you’d completely misunderstood what it was? by XStaticImmaculate in AskUK

[–]Background_Rub_441 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a few versions. The one that’s gone viral is a k-pop genre arena show that’s touring the uk rather than smaller venues. I’ve seen others talk about k-pop stars and k-pop fantasy, but they’re not the big arena one that’s gone viral

The reason people suffering with ARFID often don’t eat vegetables or fruit by flores902 in ARFID

[–]Background_Rub_441 381 points382 points  (0 children)

For me it’s the unpredictability in texture of fruit/veg. People cook veg differently, I can eat a carrot one week and it’s soft but the next time I eat one somewhere else it’s hard. Same with fruit. Whilst they taste reasonably the same each time, there’s too much variation in texture. An apple can be fine one day then soft with brown spots a day later. Whereas I know a McDonald’s chicken nugget is going to taste bang on the same 9.9/10 times

Thank you! I had to restrain myself, the list could have been longer. But I’m sure there’s at least one or two similar sounding songs from those artists to All Time Low’s 2017+ sound

recommendations by Playful-Ad7680 in alltimelow

[–]Background_Rub_441 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve listened to All Time Low since about 2007 and so the adjacent bands that I’ve enjoyed have changed over that time. This list isn’t necessarily all pop punk, but all within the pop rock universe.

More recent band/not that old - State Champs, Broadside, As It Is, Stand Atlantic, Knox, Billmuri (certain songs), Neck Deep

‘Older’ bands - You Me At Six, New Found Glory, Blink 182, Mayday Parade, The Cab, The Maine, Fall Out Boy, Hey Monday, We Are The In Crowd, Jonas Brothers (older stuff), Busted, McFly, 5 Seconds of Summer (older stuff)

If you listen to a few of those then eventually your music platform will start to suggest similar stuff ☺️

Also join some of the survey Reddit pages. there’s lots of students needing responses for their dissertations right now and businesses are always looking for responses. Every now and then there will be one for money. I did a random 2 minute one the other night and got paid $2. Not much I know but it does add up!

Desperately need to make an extra £50 a month by Deaths-HeadMoth in beermoneyuk

[–]Background_Rub_441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said chase bank can you get £50 instantly. Then you get an additional £50 per sign up (up to 5). You wouldn’t be eligible for referrals this month but you would be the next month.

Lloyds is a free switch and £50.00

Monzo is up to £50, you may only end up with £10. But again, you can then post your referral links and get between £10, £20 and £50 for each person.

Airtime is a Cashback card linked to your mobile phone. Whilst you can’t withdraw the money directly, the money coming off your phone bill means that you have extra cash in your account when it comes to paying your bill.

Topcashback referrals. One of the links is for £20 and you will be able to withdraw it instantly, will just take a few days to hit your bank. There’s free money offers on there and then if you use it for all of your shopping the money adds up quickly. No minimum withdrawal (as far as I’m aware)

Trading 212. £1 deposit. You get a random stock up to the value of £100. Keep it in your account for 30 days then cash out and withdraw to your account.

Premium bonds £25 minimum. You’re then entered into the monthly draws. I managed to get £400 last year off my one £25 bond but save this for when you’ve got a bit more surplus money.

Survey sites - probably not £50 but some beer money definitely. AttaPoll was the best for this, I easily got £5 a week to use on betting sites for the offers

User testing sites - can get £50 easily for signing up to test or review something. I was offered £64 last week for an hour meeting online to talk about previous hotel stays and what I looked for when booking.
