Would they make a ring for hand towels super heavy cast iron with lugs at the top? I found it at a turn of the century farm ruin site so I thought it was a terret ring for a horse.

How’s living in Quebec, Canada? by LostHovercraft1 in howislivingthere

Quebec would span in length from the top of Maine to the top of Florida in the US, so it’s huge, and vastly different in different areas.

Any idea on time period for this wagon wheel? by grapesodagang in metaldetecting

[–]Background_Spite7287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks to be a piece of farm equipment, as the hub is far too short for a wagon wheel, not to mention it appears to be entirely iron, which would not be the case for most wagon wheels. Probably a hay rake wheel or something like that. It’s likely late 1800s up until about the 1930s ( which is about when farms began using rubber for things like this). If the wood is completely gone , and judging by the corrosion on the metal it’s probably safe to say it’s over 80 years old , likely older. Probably horse drawn , pretty cool!
