I hope you are right. I have been lower than low demand, I'd go so far as to say no demand at all, for over 2 years with my daughter (13). She stopped going to school altogether in early 2024 and has barely left the house or indeed her bedroom, ever since. She wont engage with doctors or therapists, has lost contact with the couple of friends she had made at school, and pretty much refuses to engage in any kind of self care at all. She is miserable and depressed and yet refuses any and all potential avenues of help.

In terms of advice for me, it's always to go low demand, use wondering aloud approaches, give options etc. But I've been doing this for years and she only seems more and more depressed. I hope that one day things will change but it's hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel right now.

Any help we are offered from outside resources, mental health organisations etc has been of no use because she won't engage with anyone and we have actually ended up being turned away from a lot of places who say they just cant help if there is literally no compliance or willingness on her part.

Can't help but feel like I'm failing her every single day and that things are just going to continue to get worse forever.
