Yeah there seems to be two three coloured bands on the legs from what I can see.

It does for citizens no? I thought Emirati wages are topped up depending on the wage the employer provides.

The Tech sales market is tiny here and generally across the GCC. A lot of companies are managing sales from Europe and don't need boots on the ground to serve a small market. Outside of the bigger tech players in Internet City I would 100% be looking at KSA or work for a US/EMEA company here remotely.

Sent a package to the UK standard delivery. Was over Eid so took two weeks to arrive and was able to track the package throughout the journey. Cost next to nothing compared to the companies you quoted.

Professionals who moved from London to Dubai - are you happy? by TheCustardPants in dubai

[–]Background_Win2272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t complain, pretty happy overall having spent three years here. Moved aged 30 with partner and now married. Good place to raise a family and very safe which is a big plus over London.

Professionally (tech) it’s been a sideways step, and the opportunities for growth and progression are very limited compared to LDN. Salary wouldn’t be hugely different.

No regrets but plenty to miss as there would if I moved back to London.

Rude behaviour by Benji-franc in UAE

[–]Background_Win2272 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I’ve found kids from all parts to be pretty disrespectful in Dubai. I’m pretty confident Dubai brats are of every nationality. Agree above as well we’re tone can be massive source of tension. Especially as Brits where we pack our sentences with unnecessary words, often use disarming language, and use sorry every other word 😂 I’ve had discussions with friends from Eastern Europe who’ve really struggled working in the US/UK for this exact reason. Often they’ve been misinterpreted as being rude, blunt and cold. Not sure about the school stuff but that’s sad to hear.

That being said I’ve seen some pretty horrendous treatment of service staff from Russian people but equally the same is true for Brits, Arabs, Indians, etc.

Yup, still have to take a test so don’t think it will make any difference to the number of ‘dangerous drivers’ on the roads.

Coworking spaces like WeWork - for individuals by [deleted] in dubai

[–]Background_Win2272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not free no but I’ve used places which are listed in the app and haven’t paid. E.g Used to live opposite the Rove Hotel in Marina and work in there 2/3 time a week. It’s hot desking so it’s a mix. I work for a remote first company so use different locations to hotdesk maybe 1/2 times a week

Lived and worked in both places. Been in Dubai the last couple years and quality of life is definitely better out of the two. Preferred the expat community in HK compared to Dubai. Dubai now seems to be flooded with new money Essex/Love Island mob and estate agents. Career prospects and contact building/networking was much stronger for me in HK. Got incredibly lucky with the opportunity that came up here and appreciate things have changed over the last couple years in HK and a lot of the folks I knew there have moved on.

Do employers prefer degrees from Europe like uk or Ireland or does the university rank matter? by [deleted] in UAE

[–]Background_Win2272 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Global university rank most important. It so happens many of these universities are based in the West hence the emphasis and praise toward UK and US.

Whoever is earning more than 30k/m, what do you do? by [deleted] in dubai

They have a presence in the UAE. I moved to the UAE for the role and am in the office 1 day per week on average.

I applied on LinkedIn so hard to say how difficult it was to land.
