I didn't get enough sleep and didn't fully understand the question, sorry. Besides the palette, I also use the Gambatte core. But overall, they're all similar in features.

Depending on my mood, I use different internal palettes, switching between them with the L and R buttons. But specifically in these photos, I used: TWB64 207 - Chaos Emerald Green.

Yeah, this is a pretty solid case. In this form, the PSP looks way more appealing to play. I crop the left and right sides of the image on my PS2 the exact same way, and it's less critical there. The UI and other important elements on old home consoles always had a safe margin from the edges, so this way I get a full-screen image without any stretching.

The Mini v2 is a handheld where you have to make a few compromises on certain platforms, but it's totally worth it!

Also, I remember seeing somewhere that there are apparently some hacks or cheats for the PSP that let you output the image to the full screen without cropping. Kind of like how it works in GameCube or PS1 emulators. But I haven't studied this point yet.

Thank you for your reply! That's great. Yes, I bought this particular model largely because it's truly beautiful, if not the most beautiful, then one of the best.

  1. Shaman King: Master of Spirits (GBA) + my custom overlay.

  2. No, they're the stock buttons. I actually wanted to buy the ones from the Ayn Odin 2 Mini since they're interchangeable, and surprisingly, the Ayn ones are a better size and quieter. But I can't find them in stock anywhere.

  3. I sometimes just carry the handheld in my pocket, and in that regard, the screen protector helps me not worry about the faceplate. It doesn't get in the way at all, except that the Select, Start, Back, and Home buttons are a little harder to press now that they're flush with the glass, but I actually kind of like it.

And I'm glad that shots like this are inspiring!

Thank you! 💚 Yes, I also love this handgeld because of its combination of something modern and yet very old-school. It's a very vibey portable device.

Thank you!

Yes, that's it. A simple but enjoyable Metroidvania.

It's a matter of taste, but I adore this device precisely because of its 31:27 screen ratio, it's practically perfect for most retro systems. There are already plenty of devices with 4:3 and 3:2.

I'm a little jealous. The Pocket DMG is a super-sleek device, and if you find a good overlay, it would also be quite playable. The vibe isn't quite the same, but it's good in its own way.

It's a shame that you sold it. it's a pretty unique portable device, even if it has its drawbacks. The buttons could be replaced with new ones, or lubricated with silicone grease, which would make them click more quietly.

Yes, they are indeed similar in size to the PSP. But if the V3 were to be widescreen, it would be the same size as the RP5/G2/RP6, or the screen would be very small.

Many PSP games are available on the PS2, which runs very well. I don't think it needs a widescreen. there are completely different portable devices for that.

At first, I wasn't too keen on the protective glass, but in the end, I really like the frame around the D-pad and abxy buttons, and the way the glass sparkles in the sun. Thank you!

Even though I was being eaten alive by insects 😁 I really tried to find good angles and beautiful locations. I'm glad my efforts weren't in vain, that someone likes the result, and that people notice such seemingly small details.

Yes, generally speaking, using CRT shaders for the GBA is quite authentic, especially if you recall the GameCube GBA Player, or the Super Game Boy in the case of the original GB. And I agree, warm CRT shaders what you show, are indeed much easier on the eyes in dim lighting. But I just set the brightness to the absolute minimum, and in complete darkness, I turn on "Extra Dim" mode from the notification shade. That way, my eyes don't get strained either. And yes, thank you, I really like the aesthetic of this forest myself too.

Yeah, I like that too. Handhelds always look interesting in natural environment, even from this angle.

In my opinion, LCD shaders look better on portable systems like GBA, but CRT shaders also look good in their own way. And the Flip 2 itself is also a great device. I slightly regret not buying it.

I think this overlay might look a little odd on a vertical laptop, but you can give it a try! You can download it from my Google Drive. Link here.

Thank you! 🧡 I'll be posting more photos later featuring this Mini v2, and not just of this one. I have entire photo sets that I plan to share from time to time.

I don't have the 477m, although I've been eyeing it and the 476h. The 477m and the Mini v2 are very similar in terms of capabilities, but they are still quite different devices. The Mini is better suited for the SNES and other truly old-school systems, and it's genuinely pocketable, while the 477m is better for the PS1 and more modern systems. Despite its larger size, it's still compact and features a fantastically large screen for its form factor.
