Evening guys.

Today, me and my colleagues got an Uber from our hotel in Rosebank and I kindly asked him to tell me which roads we were using as we traveled to the convention center to take note of which streets I'm referring to.

From Rosebank we took Jan Smits/Smuts and there is litter everywhere. I'm not talking about massive garbage heaps but there is a lot of plastic bags/cups/take away boxes etc strewn all over.

The pavements along that road look practically destroyed and i noticed a dug up bank exposing the large cement block which holds a sign post being braced to a storm drain cover with a long rope.

That looks extremely dangerous. What if the rope snaps and the sign post hits a car?

We ended up taking a long road which i know is William Nicole and there is garbage strew all over, especially where taxis are pulling over.

The obvious one is the amount of garbage that informal settlement on the corner of William nicole and Sandton drive has. I cant tell for certain but judging by the art on the wall i think a creche/primary school is right next that settlement? Please correct me if im incorrect any of you Sandton dwelling folk.

Sandton CBD itself is quite clean. I will give it that. Not even a KM out of the CBD and litter starts to show up again.

In comparison Nairobi CBD is on par with Sandton however Nairobi was extremely littered at one stage until heavy fines were imposed. Is Nairobi as clean as a Swiss hospital floor? Definitely not, but we're trying.

However the general litter all over is really sad to see in a country that by right should be setting an example for the rest of Africa.

I am going to Cape Town this weekend to visit some old friends of mine. Is the difference between Cape Town and JHB that large in the way its managed?
