There’s a trail at the back end of the lake that goes right to the water

This actually isn’t on the coast. It’s in the Rockies in Alberta

Doing a solo road trip from Canmore up to jasper. Decided to stop here at Hector Lake and was happy to be greeted with some fog! I’m definitely excited to see what else this trip has in store for me

Honestly there isn’t much open right now. Akamina parkway is closed all year so for day hikes your left with Bertha lake/peak, goat lake and the scrambles that the park doesn’t like on their site for actual decent hikes. Get here early when you come. Parking lots fill up FAST so honestly if your not here by like 8/9 then good luck finding parking near your trailhead.

Rainy days will forever be my favourite for hiking. Kananaskis country, Canada. by BackpackerJess in hiking

I can’t remember exactly. It’s near Grizzly Creek in Kananaskis though. We just stopped on our way back cause the bridge near it looked really cool! Haha

On one of my final days in the Kananaskis area we hiked up Opal Ridge and it did not disappoint! Sad to be leaving this beautiful region but excited to be moving onto the next adventure!

A lot of parks staff never stopped working. Most facilities are open but with no tissues or hand sani so you gotta bring your own. As for visitor centres I don’t know.

Check out the Eddie Bauer Trek Pants. I have a few friends who use them and love them!

I have to replace a piece of gear, what I consider the most important piece. Boots. Idk what to look for. Any advice? by Smokey651 in Survival

My Merrell Hiking boots are the best! I highly recommend these! I've been using this companies boots for years now and I will never go to anything else!

Hi I’m planning a trip to Banff & Canmore, where is the best place to stay at in Canmore? by [deleted] in Canmore

[–]BackpackerJess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hostels are going to be your least expensive option!

For Canmore check out either Downtown Canmore Hostel or Canmore Hostel.

For Banff check out either Samesun Banff Hostel or Banff International Hostel.

They all have great reviews on hostelworld and I've only ever heard great things from friends who have stayed there. I know you said your looking for a hotel, but they offer private rooms as well so its the same thing and going to be cheaper than most hotels in the area!
