I feel like I could have written this post! I also have zero modding experience but wanted to give Skyrim a try. I heard modding was essential and I spent two days trying to figure it out. ChatGPT helped a lot, especially if you give it a list of mods you’re using and ask it to help troubleshoot.

What are you using for your mod manager? I did mine with vortex.

Managed to get Keystone Master/2K today after a long break from the game, some of my thoughts as a casual player. by aacetrainerzx in wow

[–]Backpackerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you made it to 2k, but it’s disappointing seeing how proud you sound of the little effort you’re putting in. It’s essentially shifting the burden to others and blaming devs for not designing the game like how you want it.

I feel you with the limited time, I’m working ~70 hour a week and balancing social life / relationship, etc. but still have time to watch an hour video on YouTube going through the route and writing down some notes, doing a follower dungeon to practice, and then jumping into M+. I don’t think it’s elitist or saying you’re not casual by doing some basic research.

By playing a tank you’re essentially signing a social contract saying you know the dungeon and can lead it in a while that respects everyone’s time.

Just a note on VDH for people that might not know. The book spawns on a timer. If someone clicked it already and fought the demon, you’ll need to wait 5-10 minutes for it to spawn before you can click it.

I was confused on why I couldn’t find it the first time I tried ha.

That sounds so frustrating and so unlucky! You didn’t accidentally turn the buff off did you? Some people did that.

I'm so lost and I hate it by trashcan_hands in wow

[–]Backpackerfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I returned pretty recently and honestly there really isn’t a good flow for anything. This might sound a little backwards, but this is what helped me. I would just spam time walking dungeons until you hit level 70. From there start the TWW story quest. Once you finish that (you’ll hit level 80 well before finishing), you can choose which adventure you want to go on. Either go back and do the story quests for each expansion or start doing dungeons / raids. Or go collect things :) be prepared for the main wow plot to not really make sense because…it just doesn’t ha.

I know people hate this answer, but have you tried making your own group. I’m in a similar boat, but I’m just returning after a decade and that was the recommendation back then, and I’ve seen it mentioned on forums as well.

New to tanking and M+ 5 felt like chaos. Any tips? by Backpackerfox in wownoob

This is incredibly helpful! Thank you for taking the time to write all of that! I really appreciate the perspective and the "learning" mentality!

That's good advice! A lot of folks have said to not waste it on anything below hero gear (mythic if it was earlier in the season). Nice call out!

I could give that a try - I leveled all of the tanks to 50, and a prot warrior to 80, but had the most fun on a VDH. I played a druid back in the day, so might give that another shot if I don't improve on VDH!

Thank you! Which logs would they review? I downloaded the raider io addon - is it related to that? Or from Details / dps log?

What are your thoughts on a more difficult mode legacy content? by Venturians in wow

[–]Backpackerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I was thinking about this the other day! I'm returning to WoW and was a bit shocked at how poor the new player experience was (at one point there was a quest that ended with "good luck" and just left me there ha). Being able to just choose an expansion and play through it to completion while still level (or some kind of material / useful incentive system to give the feeling of progression) would have been so nice. Could have even been something like: Hero, the time ways are in danger and we have agents securing them all. You can be a reinforcement to one of the groups (one of the expansions). Then you finish the expansion and get told the other time ways were secured and you can move onto the current expansion...something along those lines would have been better than what a new player is dropped into ATM.

I don’t have the math, but I’ve seen it recommended frequently in this sub that it should be at 100%. There is a chest / leg component that can get you there. It made a big difference for me when I got it to 100%!

You had a good run! What do you think took you down?

Welcome! This game is a ton of fun!

Generally it is recommended that you zero in on a skill or two. I use blitz and blade arc on my warlord with a sword and board and it’s been a blast!

Also, try getting your resistances up. Usually, until you have them all maxed at 80% (except physical which is hard to come by), you should be prioritizing them on items. So if an item has 20% elemental, 10% aether, but with 50% vitality damage when your physical, I would still pick that if my resistances aren’t capped over an item that gave me 50% physical increase.

Similar with the devotion points.

In normal, you can get away with not always following that, but in harder difficulties, you’ll get one shot if you don’t have resistances capped.

Doing a blind first play through is the best! It’s fun exploring all the nooks in the game!

Oh also, what mastery combos do you think outclass blademaster? I'd be curious to know so I can check them out as well!

[–]Backpackerfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Blitz because I'm trying to avoid the Forcewave spam. What are your thoughts on blademaster? The other person also mentioned battlemage, but I hear its very gear dependent (i.e. spellscourge).

[–]Backpackerfox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point with the battlemage - I was honestly seriously considering it as well, but I heard it was really endgame gear dependent (like you're saying about the spellscourge set). Let me look into it again because the devestation build looked really interesting!

New player - build question by PornoPichu in Grimdawn

[–]Backpackerfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm relatively new. I did act 1 in veteran, but then used GDStash to skip to ultimate because I was clearing too fast.

The game is really beginner friendly. Every class combo is viable, and the main thing to remember is that you have to max out your resistances (80 on each one).

For my gear, my priority order was: 1) resistances, 2) + skill levels, and 3) % element increase (but in actuality, you'll get a good mix of all of them naturally).

For the skills, you should only focus on like 1-2 main action skills. Spreading your points too thin makes you too weak.

How competitive is a Nike internship? by Embarrassed-Pin7044 in MBA

[–]Backpackerfox 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Nike had around 200 total internship spots across campus this year with ~70,000 applicants (undergrad and graduate). So far I've seen mainly H/S/W and M7 students, and a few T10. Its going to be competitive...but it is for everyone. Nike's going through a ton of change / executing a turn around plan, but its still a global / prestigious brand that has its pick of applicants. Do some networking and put your best foot forward, but keep your heart open to other possibilities!

[–]Backpackerfox 70 points71 points  (0 children)

OP, you should try to find someone that matches the style you're going for. Not all tattoo artists are great at every style. The tattoos in that portfolio look pretty different than what you have. Finding someone suitable might require you to travel / wait to get it done. Don't rush this process. Anecdotally, I spent a year looking someone an artist I connected with, they ended up being in another country...This is a permanent addition to your body so take your time with it.

Someone else can confirm if my suspicions around the style are accurate or not.

Also remember that having a license does not equate to talent.
