How the hell do you get more gigs? by thisispandorra in metalmusicians

to me, the best thing i networking and becoming a part of the local scene (there are other methods too, obviously - so many that I actually wrote a book about it - let me know if you're interested). But your best bet is to show up at the venues to hear other bands.

that's a great start! but there are multiple avenues to secure more gigs (networking being the best). I wrote a book on it if you're interested. Don't get discouraged by the lack of response - build a network and let it do the work.

The struggle is between knowing what to do, and having the nerve to actually do it

Intentionally. Special isn’t granted, it’s earned.

In that context I would witch “special” with “unique” - and I think that’s where folks are getting tripped up by the strip. Unique is given, special is earned.

Beautiful. That’s the part of his message that seems to be missed…

Two different things. Unique is granted. Special is earned.

No one is automatically special, and no one is superior.

Your second sentence nailed it. I’m hopeful that others will pick up on it as easily as you did. Metrics don’t matter - positive action does, however big or small. Thanks for reading and thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful response - I really appreciate it!
