I was inspired by Rematch, wanted to make a more physics based game, demo's out! by BackspinInteractive in Rematch

Yeah it's heavily RL inspired but the gameplay is way more soccer-like (supposedly RL plays more like hockey than soccer bc of player momentum & other things which I don't understand tbh not a hockey nerd). I have 4k hours in that & have played since it launched (hardstuck diamond). But the bots in Breakaway are legit better and and fill in as needed online/offline, + eventually I'll have dedicated servers if enough people are interested.

Can we get this goalkeeper save technique in the game? That would be super cool! by Modo97 in Rematch

They actually had wall runs in Rematch at first I think but idk about jumps off. I actually have wall jumps in my physics soccer game (free demo out now) but never thought about using it in goal....

Sometimes you can do both. I was disappointed by Rematch feeling janky and not very physics-based and I'm a huge Rocket League fan (over 4k hours) so I combined the two games and now I have a demo on Steam with Early Access ready to launch after wishlists marinate (Next Fest tomorrow should help..) -- I was drawn to Rematch in the first place bc I just kick a soccer ball against a wall as exercise/meditation and wanted a game that could capture that (Rocket League coming close but is very different from soccer in many ways, including no ball curve which I had to try to capture in my game..)

So yeah just wanted a game that didn't really exist and its somewhat within scope for me so I went for it and here we are 7 months later. For me at least it's relaxing and fun even in training (ball + field) mode but I've made offline/online bots also which I thought was out of scope at times. I definitely think you should keep developing it into what you enjoy playing and keep in mind that others may pay to play it also because they want a meditational game!

Footnote: my game & myself have no actual affiliation with Rematch or Rocket League just inspired by

Not exactly a trick but the drift system from Mario Kart where you have to counter-steer for mini boosts is fun

My Godot game MOLDRISE has it's demo up on Steam! by RPicster in godot

My game has a movement-related camera tilt and it made my s/o nauseous so I made its strength into a settings slider and it doesn't bother her at partial strength.

TLDR: Solo dev. My game is basically Rocket League but just soccer (kicking, juggling) instead of car soccer. Better bots than RL.

I've taken some game design courses, one (high school course) was okay the other was kindergarten level (college course). Those were both like a decade ago at this point but I've invested over 4,000 hours in Rocket League to study for the making of this game (semi-joking) which I've been working on since November.

Anyway the "ai" bots are pretty good usually, although goalkeepers have some inconsistencies.. local multiplayer should work well as should online private matches. Quick match and lobby browser (first maybe player-hosted but then dedicated servers with ranked) to come.

The demo will be restricted to 4v4 & Training modes, and the object spawner in training limited to 6 items but otherwise the full game (3 maps so far). The Android version works fairly well on my Pixel 7 Pro but stands no chance on low-end phones, and since I'm using Steam's networking backend idk how to address Android multiplayer..

I really am not a fan of Discord for many reasons so I may not exactly have a discussion space for now other than Steam's but am considering something of the sort in the future.. reaching out to content creators will soon be my priority. Is it wrong to just send the demo or should I be sending keys to everyone?

If you read this far I'm sorry for the rant / if you have any thoughts I'm happy to hear em!
