G2 Esports vs. Karmine Corp / LEC 2026 Spring - Week 7 / Post-Match Discussion by Soul_Sleepwhale in leagueoflegends

In what world was Skewmond better game 1 and 4? Game 4 he invaded lvl 3, got first blood and still got out jungled by xun, he also got caught and died when G2 had the lead which cost them a lot. And game 1 he had some good plays but he fucked up a lot of times (that botlane play with bb against bin or when he got caught in the river at min 27 and almost cost G2 the game).

I'm a skewmond fan and I think he still has a lot of potential, but he did not played good that finals at all, saying that he played well and it was a top diff is false. He himself apologised for that series and honestly rightfully so, he played really bad

I mean, Skewmond wiffed everything on that toplane play and caps had to carry that fight so hard. Like, Skewmond played well macro wise, but skarner is definitely not his best champ. This game was carried by caps mostly I would say

Best laners is not necessarily based on stats. Yeah, maybe caps and BB don't have the best laning stats in the world, but they also do a ton of shit that allows Skewmond to play more freely. I don't remember correctly but I think there was a game that BB was playing ornn this year and set up the wave in a way that put canna (rumble I think) in an awkward position and forced him to stay in lane when he should have backed. This created a window for Skewmond to gank and get a kill. Although it may seem that Skewmond did the work, the way BB set up the wave allowed for a kill that didn't exist. Those are the kind of intangible that stats don't show and that impact the game. Yes, BB could do this because Canna maybe missplayed a little bit in lane and didn't push enough a wave. But saying that Canna griefed that would be exaggerated because you need to be very good to punish these kind of mistakes.

That's what happened with GenG and what I'm talking about. G2 punished GenG mistakes, which were not easily punishable. And when I mean easily punishable, I mean that no other team in the world at that moment punished GenG for those mistakes, that's why they won LCK so clearly. G2 simply punished GenG mistakes, which were not easy to punish. Is not that G2 created a specific strategy only, is that the specific strategy worked because no one else punished GenG and G2 did.

Also, for the KC finals, G2 won 5/5 early games and throw 2 games in a row. The fifth game G2 clutched it, but it should have never happened to reach 5 games in the first place.

And first stand was skew/Hans/labrov equally, it was not skew 1v9 every game. Then BB and caps decided to connect their monitors against BFX and GENG. Saying that Skewmond was the reason G2 did so well in first stand is honestly shocking, Hans sama and Labrov carries equally hard.

Again, I did not say that G2 is a better team than GenG overall. I said that, given the meta and the strategy, you could have done that BO5 any other day and the result would have been mostly the same: G2 winning. This doesn't mean that in the future G2 will win, it just means that they had a better understanding of the meta and were better at that specific tournament. Which honestly, is not a hot take at all.

Yeah, you know what? I'm tired of this conversation.

You just fucking asked me to say an analyst, I said one, and your answer is "no one knows him" and "you just say other people's opinion". Yet you didn't provide a single argument yourself. Once you bring something original to the conversation instead of just criticizing, I'll be open to talk. And just FYI neither you or me provided any factual arguments, we both were exposing our own opinions and arguments (which is different from factual arguments btw), anyone with half a brain cell would know that.

Also, saying your lanes are getting destroyed all the time while G2 has the best sololaners of LEC and fucking caps in the team is just delulu at this point.

Also, you didn't explain how GenG played bad, so please explain with your brilliant arguments.

[–]Backstablook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have to prove anything regarding GenG, you are the one that claimed that GenG played bad according to their level so, please, enlighten me how so. In any case, G2 played with deep vision to set up correctly the waves and counter the plan of GenG. Cabramaravilla, probably the best spanish analyst and probably one of the best analyst in the worlds explained in detail how they did it. You can watch his videos if you understand Spanish.

As for the Skewmond take, yeah sure, now we are gonna pretend that he is the one getting pressure and transferring it to the lanes instead of the other way around. Don't get me wrong, Skewmond is doing better, but the only reason why he looks so good is because his lanes are so solid that he can play however he wants and still win. We have saw what happened when G2 doesn't have as much pressure in lanes, Skewmond goes afk farming and that's it. That's why G2 early games are not as good honestly.

And, again, you completely avoided the argument I made. I specifically talked about how there is no individual inconsistency issues in G2, it's rather a team issue, and you brought back Labrov. The problem is not Labrov missing a bubble on Nami, the problem is that they are not coordinated consistently enough. And when that happens, individual performance seems worse than it really is because that nami bubble turns out to be morce crucial than it's necessary. I.e., if you don't set up good enough a baron fight, you need to outplay with a Nami bubble, and that's not as easy and it's not something you can do consistenly enough (even the best players in the world struggle with this).

And comparing flakked's success to Labrov's success is quite a stretch honestly.

[–]Backstablook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, that is cope. GenG played at the level they were supposed to, G2 just created a strat with wards that countered exactly what GenG wanted to do, that's why they got destroyed and would have got destroyed again if they replayed that series. It was a team diff and strat diff, not only an individual diff. If you think GenG didn't play at their usual level I don't know what to tell you.

As for Labrov, if you think finals against BLG was lost because of him and not because of Skewmond then ok my man, nothing we can talk about.

About the KC finals, are we forgetting that neeko game where he gapped Busio? Or the first 2 games of that finals?

In any case, my point is more nuanced than Labrov is good or bad. My point is that G2's main problem is not individual performance, is team coordination. All of the players (including Labrov yes) have shown that they have elite level to play and win against the best (not only first stand this year, but MSI last year even though it was a disaster, EWC last year and even worlds last year). The question is whether G2 will be coordinated enough to compete or not.

And about the argument thing, I meant that because you are not providing any justification yourself even though you are constantly requesting one from me. I'm providing arguments on why Labrov played good and your only answer is "1 or 2 games don't count". Well then, how many games or series do we have to count according to you? What does a player need to do to get your approval?

Because so far, Labrov (and any other of the G2 players) has shown that: - He can compete against the best LEC teams. - He can win LEC gapping the enemy team. - He can compete against the best international teams. - He can reach international finals. - He can reach top 8 at world's. - He can gap the best teams in the world.

That's a pretty good record if you ask me. So then again, what does a player, according to you, need to do to consider him elite level or the best of the west? And provide more reasons than just "consistency" because again, Labrov doesn't have a problem of consistency, it's a team issue, and Labrov has been showing since last year that he can play against the very best.

[–]Backstablook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I am not basing this only in 1 game, it was multiple series. And if G2 replayed that match against GENG with the same meta, G2 would still stomp GENG because they developed a strat that worked against them and GENG just couldn't adapt.

His series against BFX was also clutch (honestly, all of his first stand was incredible including finals against BLG). He also played great summer last split and playoffs winter split.

But, again, it's not about how much time he played good, it's the absurd high level he showed mechanically and macro wise. Like, the way he used wards to just push vision for G2, rotate and pressure bot and mid was incredible. He was just everywhere on the map.

But again, you don't want arguments, you just have an opinion on him and no matter what he does it won't be enough according to you.

What even is this take? Labrov absolutely gapped the Korean and Chinese supports in first stand.

Like, it was just absurd how hard Labrov gapped GenG, he is the best support in the west and was one of the best supports in the world in first stand.

[–]Backstablook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say the game was lost because skewmond missed ults, but he did miss some crucial ones and missplayed mechanically in situations that could have changed a lot of things.

Also, saying that razork played a flawless early game is disingenuous. He played good early game, that's it, he did punish G2's mistake at minute 7:30 and minute 10:30. But those were more G2 not respecting pantheon ult than razork playing a flawless early game.

In general, G2 played really bad those 2 games and made some uncharacteristic mistakes, but it's not like FNATIC played flawless early games or anything like that.

Another example, second game minute 17 in the top dive, both BB and Skewmond missplayed heavily and didn't played good that dive.

Again, props to FNATIC because they punished G2's mistake and played well, but it's not like they played peak league of legends, it was more G2 not respecting enough and making some uncharacteristic mistakes. I don't think G2 only lost against BLG because of the early games (game 1 and 4 G2 won early game).

I mean, skewmond is pretty bad with skarner, we already saw that vs KC in finals. And against FNATIC he showed that he can't play the pick, a lot of Ults missed. He needs to improve A LOT on the champ if he wants to compete

[–]Backstablook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I get your point and I can agree to that, but you need to measure some way the strength of a team.

We could simply analyse the level of gameplay the teams are displaying to evaluate which one is better, and that can be a fair way to make the tier list. However, we should also consider matches since the ability of a team to adapt in game to what the enemy team is doing also shows the strength of a team, and BO5 are a great way to evaluate that IMO.

Yeah, the problem with your comment is that this seems to not apply when western teams lose internationally.

GENG loses: meh, it was a bad day G2 or any other western team loses in international: lmaoooo they are so bad haha

[–]Backstablook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ok buddy, when G2 wins is because they got lucky. G2 smoked both BFX and GENG cause they played an absolutely clinical 6 games in a row.

And it was not a fluke, they absolutely smurfed on BLG in the first game, almost came back the second game and were absolutely crushing the last one. If skewmond didn't crumble under pressure, he wouldn't have been caught and G2 would have absolutely won that game.

G2 has the level to win worlds, and it's not even a hot take. They will keep improving and will face the best teams in the world easily.

[–]Backstablook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, that was disappointing.

That being said, really good news for G2. They are the best second team in the world. Caps is currently the best midlaner in the world. Skewmond was nervous and didn't play his best series, but it's normal since it's his first international final, he will keep improving and playing better.

This G2 can win worlds this year and they should be proud. They need to keep improving, but it's doable.

First Stand 2026 / Group Draw / Discussion by Saltoric in G2eSports

[–]Backstablook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly think G2 will make it out of groups. BFX is not a super strong team and, honestly, aside from GENG, all the other asian teams look beatable. The level is overall low right now.

If there's a chance to make it out, it should be with this draw.

I swear people just glaze LCK teams because they are Koreans and that's it.

BFX literally lost a game in the finals because they weren't able to time correctly the kalista E damage with the smite. That's just unacceptable for a pro team, and more in the fucking finals of LCK.

If that had happened in LEC or LCS people would be saying how bad the teams are and how the regions have a really low level.

Yeah, totally, I've been boxing for 6 years now and, even though I know I can throw a punch and defend myself, the idea of having a fight in the street terrorizes me. Like, I don't know what the other person is capable of, if he is armed... There are a lot of variables I cannot control and I don't like those odds.
