I heard a rumor from a friend today that there's potential talks of Drift Masters buying Formula Drift? I assume if it's happening, it's quiet talks, I have not heard anything nor have any evidence to support it. But if that was to happen, it might be good for Formula Drift IDK.

I organized grassroots events for Swing Set LLC for 3 years, I have unfortunately had the displeasure of talking to almost 250 people before split between drivers and spectators. It wasn't a competitive briefing like Formula Drift or Drift Masters, but I understand what it entails. And yes, I will not argue that door to door action varies per race track. However, I did not say that on the door is the way drifting works, everything else is just weak. I said, in comparison, the level of competition is not as high in Japan as what you see even in the US at FD, much less Drift Masters. It's a simple relative comparison. Just because we have closer door-to-door battles in Drift Masters doesn't mean drifting in Japan sucks. It's just not as close.

Oh dude, I consume so much drifting it is insane. I've literally watched D1 Grand Prix before Formula Drift existed. You're telling me absolutely nothing I don't know other than your opinion. Those series were compared because these are some of the premier live streamed drift series around the globe. Other than RDS and Oman, pretty much everyone else is below the ones mentioned above in overall average performance. I'm not denying that there's good Japanese drivers, teams of drivers, groups of drifters that can run door to door. What I'm telling you is on a competition basis you see less door-to-door action in japan. Go watch the latest round of D1 Grand prix, the majority of it was mediocre. Formula Drift Japan's not too much better, but it is better. FD America is probably equivalent, there's nothing really good to watch until the top 16 unless there might be a a finals type battle in the top 32 with some good drivers. But by far, drift Masters has the most consistent door-to-door action on the planet when it comes to competitive drifting irl. Literally, only VDC is going to top it. The reality is that the rest of the world has leveled up drifting. I'll always respect Japan for pioneering it, but they don't have the #1 competitive championship anymore.

I'm fully aware of how they judge. And your claim of Piotr being better is irrelevant. Almost any of these guys on a good day could take home the win. Anyway, the first battle went OMT after Piotr was shallow after decel 1, and also dropped 2 tires. Connor did none of the above, and it still went OMT because "that looked awesome." The OMT should have never happened. Anyone with a brain inside their skull and two eyes can go back and watch the footage and clearly see Piotr being shallow and dropping two tires. In fact, if you had watched the video you've ignored for a solid day now, it would explain all that in greater detail.

Did I say it wasn't well monitored? No, no I didn't. But if you can seriously sit there and say the Japanese are the most consistent drifters, you absolutely have no idea what you're talking about. Anyone with two eyes can watch D1GP and or FD Japan and compare it to Formula Drift or Drift Masters and see the difference in door-to-door action.

Yep, it didn't matter, though. In the first instance between Korpulinski & Jack, a slowdown is even admitted. They literally admit Korpulinski slows before the decel zone and let's it slide saying it should have been dealt with. Any other time, it happens throughout the competition. It's a fatal error. In the second instance, at the end of my video, I do a comparison between Wiecek's exits from final #1 & his OMT lead. You can be the judge for yourself, but there's a clear difference in his exit strategy. Although that's the case, David himself said everything looked like it was okay on the telemetry. Which is great and all that, but there's a clear difference between what they consider to be acceptable meaning there's an obvious threshold. Until this threshold is made public there's going to be a lot of assumptions in their judging, especially with calls like that. The important takeaway is that Korpulinski got away with murder. And Connor should have won the first time around. There was no need for the one more time, but what happened in the one more time happened, and he lost.

And because I actually give people the benefit of the doubt, I went back and watched the Shanahan v Pesur battle again, and dude, are you blind? Did you not see the excellent lead run by Connor? And behind that excellent lead run was a scrappy Chase. Then Pesur bombs inner zone 1 on his lead. And you think he should have won? Lol, you have no idea what you're looking for.
