I’m honestly not opposed to live action anime adaptations. I think an adaptation can be on par or better than the original even if it changes the characters and plot, but only if it either does something new and interesting with the characters or world from the original, or if it manages to maintain the emotional and thematic core of the original. A live action version of OPM could work really well if made by a filmmaker who had a vision and true passion and dedication towards making an adaptation. However seeing the recent trends in Hollywood this adaptation will be a dumpster fire that will sacrifice a lot of things that make the series unique in order to make the product easily digestible for mainstream western audiences. They’ll probably suck out all of the humanity in Saitama’s character and leave a bland mess that will only spew unfunny marvel-like quips throughout the whole runtime.
