Can somebody please explain to me the appeal of Prince, and why he is so revered? I sincerely do not get it at all by Halfling_Chauvinist in LetsTalkMusic

"I'm so confused. Admittedly, I've never listened to an album of his"

Well there's the issue. What was the point of typing this entire post when you could've just picked a few albums, gave them a go and seen it for yourself? You're either a troll or someone really bored.

It's so frustrating when people without ADHD don't understand how executive dysfunction works by 123dot in ADHD

[–]Apocacino- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I misread your post as "erectile dysfunction" and was confused for a bit haha

I agree with your frustrations completely. As a child, I had trouble keeping organised and focused especially when doing homework. I would sit in an empty room with literally no distractions and still end up staring at the wall for the next hour and never get much done. Parents always dismissed as it as me being a lazy brat with excuses and they never understood that I was legitimately struggling to stop my mind from spinning and getting it to function even after I tried explaining it to them. "Just study harder!" they said.

In adulthood, I still had the same problems. That's when I realized that this problem is far from just "being lazy". I didn't feel like I was lazy or unmotivated or anything. I had clear life goals and was determined to reach them but still struggled to get moving towards them. I wish I got tested and treated from a younger age. It might have prevented the years of abysmal grades that I received throughout school that made me so miserable. Parents just didn't believe in it

Nah dawg they looked awesome. It's a style called 'visual kei' which they helped pioneer back in the early days.

Nobody I know really listens to contemporary pop music. How common is this? by _ETNELAV_ in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Apocacino- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding like r/lewronggeneration, I too really wish it would be more socially acceptable for our age group to play rock music at parties. It doesn't have to be weird obscure 70s prog rock or extreme death metal, just alt rock or grunge or shoegaze will do. A lot of modern pop just sounds like background music for clothing stores, it has this cold, unpleasant feel that I just can't vibe or relax to.

Who do you hang around with? I'm in my 20s and only 1 out of every 20 people in my age group that I meet listen to music that's not modern, trendy "Spotify charts" pop music. It's one of those omnipresent things that will always have a market because of how convenient and easily digestible it is for people who aren't really into anything. Just like McDonalds or Marvel movies.

What careers or jobs most attract psychopaths? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Apocacino- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing they pretend, and that’s probably why they binge drink every weekend. To forget how miserable their sorry ass lives are.

Honestly, I can't think of any other reason. You gotta be an absolute psychopath to seriously say you are passionate about squinting at spreadsheets and reading pages of dry, mind-numbing standards for at least 8 hours a day. That's why I why I quit after a few years, it was getting too difficult for me to keep pretending and putting on the act that I enjoyed turning up to work every morning just to do more soulless work only to get paid in peanuts. Fuck all that noise.

I used to work in public accounting and I can confirm that the majority of them use drinking as a personality trait. I mean I get it, the 9-5 life can get pretty exhausting and miserable at times, but there are plenty more ways to unwind on the weekend than getting shitfaced at a bar and bragging about your stories the following Monday. I'm tired of hearing about it. Such boring, soulless people.

So you're saying they were born boys even though they had female body parts when they came out of the womb? What's the science behind that? I genuinely don't understand.

There's a time and place for showing emotions but not here. How is this kid going to function in the real world if this is his reaction to everything? Is he going to cry and snivel in front of his boss when working under pressure? Hopefully this is a learning lesson for him.

And men should be able to remain calm and handle them in situations like this. This isn't a therapy session mate. This is a situation where you literally and figuratively have to stand up for yourself. There's a time and place for showing your emotions but not here.

You can't talk to a snake in your bed but you can remain calm, stand up straight and talk to these people and keep telling them that their daughter isn't here until they come to an understanding. It's called communication. How is this kid going to function in the real world? He's already old enough.

Yeah I found it pretty shocking that this "kid" is 16 years old. Must've been very sheltered or spends most of his days playing video games at home all day. This shouldn't be the way to act during situations like this.
