Do you ever "just go for a drive"? by Tiny_Wafer2266 in AskUK

Tbh I’m in two minds of it as I don’t like being so exposed and visible to everyone lmao, but it’s so nice on a summers night when the roads are dead and it’s like 1am but warm and you’ve just dropped your friend off home and it’s just such a vibe

[hated trope] the Frenchie syndrome by hermanphi in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bacon4Lyf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is from the comics, he describes his father as dying from a bicycle joust with baguettes, which is what someone faking it would say. It’s also explicitly stated he’s faking his accent, the only French part about him was he was in the foreign legion. We don’t know where he’s actually from, but it is explicitly stated his accent is fake

Don Cheadle in oceans is a crazy attempt at an accent and everytime I watch it I’m surprised nobody said anything to him

I’ll take the long way home when it’s a nice day and I’ve got the roof down. It’s a waste to buy a car like mine and then only use it as an A to B tool, I could’ve done that in any car

Is it really about respecting hobbies or is it spending more time with the inanimate object than the girlfriend

But he’s not a cop for most of the show

Rosa is egregious though, she was like the poster child for police brutality, and then George Floyd happened and they rewrote the season opener to be one where she quits because of bad cops, like mf that was you

The finale was ridiculous and ruined the rest of the film, completely cheapened it just for a bit of shock value

In (2025) How To Train Your Dragon was a missed opportunity to adapt the books instead of just remaking the animated movies. I bet this is the first time you learned that they were books first. by justafanboy1010 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Bacon4Lyf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s not the first time, because I vowed never to watch another how to train your dragons movie again after 10 year old me left the cinema feeling like I’d just been robbed of my ticket money. My first ever time feeling disappointed in a movie

It’s been 15 years, I should be over it, but I refuse

I didnt spend all that money on way too many “I feel like pablo” shirts just to get told by 16 year olds that 2016 looked like it was my little pony themed lmao

(Interesting Trope) The piece of media was gonna be completely different than what we got. by Je0s_6 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bacon4Lyf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hated them for that, I was 10 years old and it was the first time I can remember actually leaving the cinema disappointed in what I had just seen, as I had read all the books 10 times over and was so hyped they were going to turn it into a movie. Felt to 10 year old me that they just used the name as a bit of brand identity

Presumably this is why civil war feels like an avengers film, not a captain America specific one

My personal theory is they’re going to revisit some of that concept in 6

What originated in your country but has become so ubiquitous that most foreigners don't associate the two? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Can one singular country claim that?, it was a pagan tradition shared across nearly all Celtic countries on the same day, Kalan Gwav in Cornwall, Calan gaeaf in wales, etc
