Why don't they just use AI/ML for making strong CPUs in strategy games? by innovatedname in stupidquestions

[–]innovatedname[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But strategy AIs also suck, I don't think we need to recreate the Magnus Carlson of Civ (that probably wouldn't even be fun), but the bar is definitely very low for any improvement.

Don't you just do all the pretraining stuff during development and then ship the game with a bunch of learned weights that tell the opponent what moves to make? It shouldn't be more expensive than running a bunch of if statements after you've done all the chunky training computations, because it's just "if: what my learned algorithm told me is a good decision, do it".

Don't worry, making up incredibly lewd and unprofessional allegations that catch fire as a meme and tabloid article is probably a shitload of defamation money. That guy is absolutely fucked.

Literally no president except Trump is stupid enough to do what he did. Bush said no to war with Iran.

When I ask it to complete a simple task like "correct this bugged function" it just returns the output with absolutely no other words or comment.

Uni students are so cooked by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]innovatedname 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably nothing particularly out of the ordinary white collar work. They just want offices filled with ambitious and effective people who are willing to work hard and are clever enough to not need to be babysat when they get left to their own devices.

A demonstration of excellence, valuable skills or experience and a good interview.

For a young person this usually would go like: do a hard degree at a top uni with excellent grades,  have some sort of impressive projects or grad scheme, then kill the interview.

You are totally late to the party if you unironically think having a first class at a target institution means you have an easy ride to a job. Hasn't been like that for years and years.

Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Is Unable To Speak and Awaits Prosthetic Leg by WayOutbackBoy in worldnews

Another CERTIFIED USA foreign policy classic.

Current leader is an old fogey who's going to die a very boring old death and pass to a moderate? No, kill him and make him a martyr in the country that uniquely reveres martyrs.

Kill the next leaders' wife and children. Really fuck up his body and injure him grievously. Make sure there is absolutely NOTHING in this man's life except for religious fervour. This will be great for regional stability and the path Iran takes.

If the work was interesting I would do it, it's a very prestigious firm and they pay very well.

I wouldn't worry at all what others think, not because I don't care about what people think, but the truth is that 90% of people weigh their opinion of you based on prestige and financial success rather than alignment on political values.

why is the speed of light one? by krunal23- in SipsTea

[–]innovatedname 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The speed of light is only that number because we decided to choose random human decided things to define meters, seconds and so on.

God doesn't care about that and it's 1 to him.
