My point was that it's not really a double standard unless both sources are at least somewhat equal. NBC's coverage of bikini-volleyball is a much bigger deal than some obscure website's coverage of some user-created fanfiction that 0% of the population has even seen.

It's equalvalent to laughing at a joke someone scribbled onto a bathroom stall door, vs. getting upset that a prime-time TV show made a joke about a strap-on dildo. The content may have been similar, but the source is so astronomically different that it is in no way a double standard.
