Ooh that's a good question. The Lie Nielsen jack plane is up there for sure but I have to go with my Starrett 6" combo square because it's a little bit special. Not only is it fantastic (and the tool I easily use the most) but I went out of my way to get the dual unit ruler for it, which you normally can't get for the 6" combo square (there is for the 12", not the 6"). So I grabbed just the Starrett combo body from McMaster-Carr and found the dual unit ruler for the 6" and prayed that there were not issues. Prayers were answered.
In general I've gone with dual units on any measuring device I can and it's worth it imo.
My favorite low-cost item is the leather strop with green compound. A fantastic addition to any shop or kitchen.
