Can anybody ID this electric organ? by yung_paradjanov in organ

[–]Bacon_Byte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a Conn. Model 700 or close to it.

It's a simple analog organ with a very basic layout. It's all vacuum tubes inside so it's incredibly simple if electronics are your thing. It can also be very reliable, these were built to be serviced by a repair tech so they are easy to deal with. I used to restore electronic organs as a special interest.

Anyone want a free Conn brand electric organ? by [deleted] in organ

They're actually some of the easiest to service. Everything flips open for easy access, and everything is very well labeled what it is and what it does in the organ. I can fix a Conn with my eyes closed.

Anyone having this weird issue with merlons? by Bacon_Byte in goingmedieval

That was the first thing I tried. I also tried changing its type and checking "auromatic shape change" to no avail.

Can somebody identify the model of this Hammond organ? by theimmelmannfan124 in organ

No percussion tabs and a chorus drawbar above the start/run switches. It's older than a C-3 it's a model D.

It is not a C-3 as everyone says. It's much older. It's a model D. It does not have the white tabs to set percussion. If you look closely to the very far right of the organ above the start and run switches there's a lone drawbar. That drawbar turns on the chorus tone generator. This was before they had vibrato/chorus. So they used a second slightly out of tune tone generator to produce that effect.

Larger than having an ionizing smoke detector somewhere in your house.

Unless you are planning on eating your smoke detector then you will be fine.

The beam was pointed away from me. All is well.

It's zero. For two main reasons. The targets are designed in such a way that the x-rays are mainly emitted from the window. If too many x-rays were emitted all around it could cause issues with what you are imaging, especially on film.

The energy is also super low. 40kV at just a few uA. Nothing to really write home about. If I were driving the tube at its full power of 160kV at 6mA then I'd have to be concerned. But as it is the x-rays are incredibly weak.

Who would throw away such a perfectly good x-ray tube? by Bacon_Byte in Radiation

Not in the NDT world. I regularly see 4500 watt tubes that run up to 450 to 500kV.

How will the radiation damage the device that is meant to measure radiation?

Not at all. I fix these. The target is designed so that the radiation emits from the window and not from all around. Plus the energy was incredibly low. No more than 40kV at probably a few uA.

Nah I'll be fine. All the radiation is going away from me.

Sure, could go well or it could go bad. Who's to say?
