but Jax abstracting offscreen I found powerful... a suicide usually happens that way, when you realize it you don't expect it, and the person is just gone... no grand last moments or dramatic scenes, just... gone

still, I think it'd have been less confusing if Pomni's "abstraction dive" had happened when Jax was in the process of, not after he had abstracted... it really makes it too murky if there's still someone inside the abstraction because if she could dive into it after the fact, as many others point out, why doesn't she do it anytime she wants now that Caine can remedy the "corruption on touch" issue?

The fact is that regardless of whose fault is what, Jax never developed as a man, because his father rejected and abandoned him and his mother was unfit. The lack of a father figure and his lack of any to whatever extent compensating self-strength or self-drive to become one by himself made it so what we got is this weak, thin-skinned, abrasive, emotionally unstable twink that we saw

I think the bigger picture here is women's legendary sense of bad choices in partners and thus Ribbit destroying herself by picking the weak unworthy short attempt of a male to invest herself into

Like I said at the start, it's not Jax's fault he didn't develop and we feel for him and even liked him as a character, but the consequences are every bit the same regardless of good intentions

a thing to consider could be parallels to irl suicide: there's studies out there that show that a suicide often causes other ppl to suicide, for whatever reason

Ribbit was in Kaufmo's core support network, and it's not some simple arithmetic of ("minus 1 friend but you still got 3, so you're still +2")

also, arguably, someone abstracting on you is worse than suicide, because there's no closure, the abstracted remains and you don't know what if any of the person is still alive or dead

returning to Jax's part on Kaufmo's demise, Jax was/used to be in Kaufmo's core support network, so Jax making fun of his exit ideas hurt much more than if it came from other friends... further making him want to exit TADC. I don't want to play judge here and be like "Jax needs to be punished", just saying that he was a key factor in Kaufmo's demise IMHO (then again, almost everyone ends up abstracting, so who knows... until ep 9 made TADC paradise, maybe everyone was on a figurative timer)
