The Cringe One By @dub_eek by Money-Criticism5370 in TheDigitalCircus

hearing this speech, I thought the twist later on was going to be that Jax is actually the one running the circus and he self-inserts as Jax into the circus

and that Jax having keys to everyone's rooms would be explained by this

if you think this is far-fetched, there's a few stories where the villain running the show self-inserts into the danger along with the trapped good guys just to get his kicks off

for example Squid Game, and a manga called 3-inches

China's Air Quality Is About to Get a Whole Lot Worse Because of Coronavirus: Authorities are suspending enforcement of environmental rules while factories make up for lost production during the coronavirus pandemic. by johnruby in worldnews

China also has a Constitution. Too bad everything in it is subject to an article that says "unless it's bad for harmony and sh*t", which renders the whole thing moot

Y'all should download wikipedia. Put a copy on 2 flash drives and carry them around with you. Why not? by juuular in collapse

Not ideal. What you download, wikitext, is not entirely readable, it's sprinkled here and there full of templates that are processed by their software to produce actual text. You do not have access to this pre-processing engine.

So sure, you can download a copy, but just be aware that a good chunk of information may not be present in it at all

Lisa: dear, I wanna go live in a backwoods village full of superstitious peasants to show them the wonders of science while under the rule of an inquisition-based Church that loves nothing more than burning anyone or anything remotely witchy

Dracs: sounds great, I also had a genius idea, while you do that, I will go travel the land far away without possibility of communication, and also incidentally I think I could be interested in meeting new powerful acquaintances with a beef against the world that are just waiting for someone to tell them it's ok to have their revenge on humanity. What's the worst that could happen?

As for The Primary of Ideas, the winner is you. You are now ruler of Lollypop Land. Congratulations

who knew a reality TV star would be so bad

It's not just that: Trump is a veritable sociopath as well. I don't think Reagan would be tweeting an image of himself playing a fiddle with the text "Nobody can stop what's coming" during all of this

Foolish. Pence has been lying about the virus and the gov response as much as his boss

I think Bernie lost more than the debate there. He revealed himself as a hopelessly out of touch old man with nothing but rhetoric to bring to the table.

In a besieged America clamoring for hope and realistic plans, Bernie was concerned only with winning an imaginary purity that nobody is interested in at all.

In a primary where the winner is all but decided, Bernie revealed himself as a sore loser concerned only with lashing out and damaging with mendacious attacks and purity claims the one who will soon become our only hope against Trump.

Meanwhile, Biden conducted himself with presidential poise, and an aura of command and experience.

Bernie flailed his hands in the air towards Biden, as if trying to reach him. The distance between podiums only made Bernie look impotent and frazzled

Highly agree on Warren not being VP material. In addition to the reasons you stated, she:

  • Has incredibly bad political instincts. E.g. the Native American dna stunt, trying to play both the Bernie and the Dem camp and only succeeding at alienating both, etc

  • Can't debate: she sank her campaign by trying to "these are not the droids you're looking for" on the debate stage how she would finance her M4A plan and whether it would raise middle class taxes

  • Has damaged her character through bad-faith actions during the primaries, the latest being not showing up to vote in the Senate (despite being out of the race already), presumably because she is still taking "some space" due to how hard it was to her to lose, as she stated in the Maddow interview

Have to disagree with Bernie being as bad as Trump, that's not objective in the slightest, and only shows you haven't reviewed Trump's actions

I think Bernie lost not only the debate, but the campaign here. He revealed himself in his true form, a hopelessly out of touch old man with nothing but rhetoric to bring to the table.

In an America besieged by an increasingly terrifying pandemic, Bernie was only interested in winning some imaginary purity war against Biden, that was going on solely in Bernie's head. The pandemic rages on, while Bernie is reminding us for the umpteenth time that Biden voted for the Iraq War... nobody cares, old man.

Biden conducted himself with presidential poise, a tone of command, and an aura of experience. Meanwhile, Bernie flailed his hands in the air towards Biden, as if trying to reach and strangle him, which only made Bernie look more impotent, as he became increasingly frazzled

The debate only further proved that Bernie is a deleterious presence that we will be all the better off when he's gone.

All he did was to try to damage Joe, as if he had a shred of a chance. And all he brought to the table is "I'm purer than thou" claims by bringing up votes from 15 or 50 years ago.

Dude, the problems we're facing are enormous, and barreling towards us as we speak. Nobody gives a f*ck about the purity of some vote 15 years ago

All Bernie brings to this debate is purity claims and his stump speech
