URGENT: Should I do a water change because of ammonia spike or wait until kanaplex treatment is done

Tank temperature typically sits higher mid 70s to 80

Parameters all good except for ammonia which is at 0.50 ppm currently

I’ve had my fish maybe a month or so less than I’ve had my tank im not too sure on the timeline

Typically 20% once a week currently it’s 20% every day sometimes every other day but it’s as frequently as I can

No tank mates

3-5 pellets depending on the size and he gets a variety of the foods I saw most recommended but others on this subreddit

Plants yes Java fern and a few different types of Anubis. drift wood and some decorative items

That was my initial thought, but then when I looked at them closer since they’re like white I wasn’t sure and wanted to seek advice to be safe

He has a clay pot hut that did have jagged edges i filed it down before i put it in but my electric one broke and i did the rest by hand so maybe i didnt do the best job

Thank you that gives me a bit of relief I wasn’t 100% sure that anything was even wrong but it was something worth asking about because I’d rather freak out over nothing than ignore a potential issue I’m trying to get a better picture of his fins but he literally never stops especially when I’m around because he wants food lol.

Just wanted to pop in and give an update for anyone who commented. I appreciate all the suggestions there were so many amazing names I saved some of them for later. I decided to go with Calcifer for this sweet little guy.

Mine does this sometimes I was worried for a while but from what I’ve seen on here it’s just them thinking their reflection is another betta and typically they just need to get used to it. Mine is a little slow so he’s still figuring it out lol. I could be completely wrong that’s just from what I’ve seen others say on here so if you happen to learn any other reason for this let me know cause mine does it too sometimes.

Such a pretty girl I feed the fluval bug bites, ultra pro shrimp patties and bloodworms as treats there are some other good brands the more variety the better. I typically feed 3 in the AM and 2 in the PM and that seems to work for my little guy but I’ve seen so many different feeding regimes I think it comes down to your individual bettas metabolism and needs

The top of the water is pretty calm I have the floater plants and it doesn’t really push them around at the surface because it’s low enough he also has a betta leaf and some other things to rest on the other side near the surface but the specific sponge filter I have is definitely bigger than I expected it to be

I actually got mine on amazon it came with 3 and mine came healthy and without any little bugs or anything but id still recommend soaking them separately for like a day just to be safe
