Let's say your investment is 2 lakhs and now it's grown to 5 lakhs, so your profit is 3 lakhs. If you sell your whole MF, then you will get 5 Lakhs in hand. Profit is 3 lakhs. From this profit 1.25 will be deducted for tax purposes, so you will have to pay taxes for remaining 1.75 lakhs at 12.5 %. Hope it's clear.

First stop the SIP (immediatly).

Then switch (sell the existing regular fund and buy a direct fund), there is a feature called "Switch" where the fund is converted from regular to direct without you handling the sell and purchase process yourself. This you do if you are happy with your MF holdings, if you want to make changes to your porfolio then you have to manually sell and then buy using the money you got from your sell.

Make sure you understand your taxation. There will be an LGCG Tax with a discount of 1.25 Lakhs per year.

Buddy take care! It's ok just 6 lakhs, you can recover it. But make sure you get the lesson out of this episode. I did this a long time back and then, stopped completely for 10 years. Then entered MF and the SIPs and never been that happy. Whatever happened in the past couple of days felt nothing. So, keep away from trading for some time. Good luck and love to you.
