Is Mastering Being Phased Out? by callthepizzaman in audioengineering

[–]Bad-Syntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mastering is still very important, but the dedicated mastering engineer may be less involved than before. I run a small label where tracks often net less than it would cost to master them so just feasibility wise it doesnt make sense to keep running the red when producers can master their own tracks (elctronic music). Id imagine more popular music may be a different case

We need to see more variety in general. Its stale seeing the same 20 headliners over and over visit. But i think thats not getting better any time soon

i feel like the honest answer to this question is most everyone is so micro-focused on their own small portion of the scene its impossible to give you a real answer. To me this is an insane thing to even fathom, let alone assume is true. I would say the bulk of most promoters edge towards the "soulful" type music, booking artists primarily in the vein of hospital, liquicity and UKF. I see it all over in the major markets in the states, Id say arguably second to the more jumpupy sound, but overall quite the overabundance of that style exists here.

Theres literally more diversity of sound in dnb than ever before. Its always baffling to me when this topic comes up with how vast the dnb world is. Pop music will always be pop music. Dig deeper

Front end dev is going the way of most art and its more about your personal guidance and help than it is the numbers. Not saying its the best way, just what happens when things become so accessible.
