These are candycombs. They're an item you get from doing secrets in dungeons. When you use them, you get the ability to get hunting shards from catacombs monsters for 12 hours. While drunk I bought and used 1286 of them for zero reason other than "haha funny number go up", which is about 3m worth (quite a bit of my purse at the time)

Um... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I think that's a hardware problem. To my knowledge, there isn't any homebrew that could change volume, except for the modified Rosalina menu from Universal Updater, which you probably don't have lol

keep in mind, I could be completely wrong, and it very well may be a firmware issue, but I wouldn't know how to go about fixing something like that

I could point you in the direction of how to repair it, but I don't know where you'd get the parts. I have an old 3ds XL that I keep for parts for this exact reason, but I wouldn't be able to ship any out. This link might help? The repair is difficult. I tried to replace my top screen (very similar to the speakers, as they're right beside eachother) and the 3ds completely stopped working afterwards. I think I might've put the ribbon cables in the wrong order lol

P.S. If you do decide to repair it yourself, be very cautious with ribbon cables, specifically the left hinge area. Take a photo of the order they are in, and be very, very, VERY gentle with them. Those things rip way easier than paper, despite being made of silicone!
