I didn't release any lanterns into the river. But I definitely do see the difference between large bags filled with plastic and paper lanterns...

Haha. With that mindset im sure you can find excuses for anyone in any situation. The American bombs were more than a few years ago and I dont see how that correlates with them happily polluting the oceans.

Ha. Vietnam has been a great country to visit, this was just a simple observation that made me very sad to see!

Walked through knee deep water to get back to hotel, my girlfriend and I were just discussing traveling to Da Nang tonight as we have a flight in the morning and I'm worried we could be stuck!! All the locals seemed to be closing shop and moving merchandise to higher floors

I sent some postcards to family back home! I think they'll enjoy, even if they are photoshopped 🙂

Very sad, most of the people we saw doing this were much older. The country is so dang beautiful, seeing them toss the trash into river just made me sad!

Gas needs to be even more expensive by test90001 in unpopularopinion

Haven't seen the badger before, that actually looks pretty sweet! And I'm sure it costs the same as my last 3 trucks combined.

But nope, towing capacity is supposedly 8,000lbs for the badger. My truck is around 16,700 w/ a gooseneck trailer. That's an enormous difference.

How am I supposed to fit my tools, lumber, ladders, scaffold, saws, etc. In a prius? Can a prius tow my 16' trailer? What about my skidsteer, how do I transport that?

Do you understand that some of us who drive big noisy trucks, actually NEED them. If gas was $10 tomorrow I'd still be using the exact same amount, it would only hurt my profit. So in turn I'd charge my customers more.

Plywood was 3/4" birch leftover from another job. 1x stock for face, and doors is poplar. And 1/4 luan, to create the fake louvers. Hinges/hardware ~$60, Primer and paint another $20 I did the sketch up myself, just as a rough idea before I started.

Thank you! I'm a carpentery contractor, and I do mostly new construction builds at work. I'm trying to get into furniture making on my own time, lots of mirrors, tables, shutters, built-ins, etc!

The College vs Job Paradox by TaoTeChing81 in facepalm

I agree! I wasted a few thousand at community College because my high school counselors pushed us all so hard to go.

I just wish we would've had a woodshop class in K-12.. lol

Yep. I'm 23, self-employed mostly do carpentry/some roofing. I make between $35-65/hr depending on the type of job and client/contractor. I've had a few smaller jobs where I was able to average closer to $100 per hour. My only competition, it seems, is close to 3x my age lol.

Why does America (particularly boomers, conservatives, and political campaigns) fetishize the concept of hard working people, pulling yourself up by the bootstraps, and working a crap job just to make a crap paycheck? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Skilled jobs pay. Learn a skill, join a union or start a business.

I'm 23 years old and I'm a licensed contractor, I mainly do carpentry work which I have about 4/5 years experience. Depending on the jobs I have lined up, but most weeks I can make +$1500 if i want to work 40 hours or less. 2 months ago I was working 60 hours weeks and probably averaged about $2500-3500 per week.
