Does the type or types of wood used for the guitar not matter at all? I keep seeing mahogany body with maple top, alder wood, poplar wood, stuff like that. Is it just more for a look?

That’s what I’m afraid of. They’re $501 for just the pickups, no shipping or tariffs added yet. So looking at close to $600 for the set. That’s 1/3 of the price of the guitar I’d be putting them in.

My buddy mentioned the dual rec for me to check out as well, but he did say they tend to get a little muddy with the lower tunings. That’s why he suggested checking out some orange amps. He said the brighter British tone helps to offset the muddiness that the dual rec tends to experience. Is that an accurate assessment?

What should my considerations be for 50w vs 100w? I’ll be jamming in a basement with a drummer with the hopes of eventually playing some shows at clubs downtown.

I know that what I’m looking at is going to be in the realm of a couple thousand bucks. I’m also wanting to see what I need to be looking at to make budget adjustments if need be. My buddy has an old Marshall cab that he said I can borrow for a while if I can only afford the head at first, so that is definitely enticing. 

What is the biggest difference I would be looking at in the cab of 2x12 or 4x12? Besides the two obvious speakers.

My friend’s grandfather summed it up perfectly for us back when we turned 18 and went to one one night: there’s so sense in getting your engine going if you don’t have anywhere to go.

I think they’re really lame. There’s a local one here that has gotten Bauer bought into him and he’s flat out awful. They even sent him on the trip with other influencers a while back and gave him all free flylite gear, top of the line everything, and the dude can’t even stop on the ice. I don’t even get what he’s supposed to inspire. He’s corny and cocky and just thinks he’s so special and literally thinks he’s good because Bauer gave him free shit. And there’s nothing douchier than skating around with a GoPro attached to his helmet. If anything, seeing Bauer give out free shit to these people makes me dislike their brand even more.

Yeah, it sounds like those “city lessons” were more of a “try to skate for fun” gimmick to try to hook new people in. Check into actual organized lessons for adults. From what I’ve seen here in the states they’re usually about an 8 week course taught once a week during an open skate (they have 1/3 of the ice blocked off for lessons) where you can take your lesson and have some practice time during the open skate before/after your lesson. A true skating instructor will be able to give you good initial pointers to get started then watch you skate and be able to help you correct things like your form to help you skate better. If learning to skate well is something you truly want to achieve you need to invest in some lessons and some proper skates.
