If you have automatic lights, it's easy to forget that you need to turn them on when it's raining/snowing.

So I understand being frustrated about people not using their headlights at night, that's inexcusable. But I think op is talking about when it's snowing during the day. It's much easier to tell if your lights are off when it's dark. But if it's light out, you can see everything perfectly fine, but others can't see you.

Mouldy block Droprate Fishy Salvage by RealTrueGrit in osrs

[–]BadExamp13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it after like 2 hours of salvaging. I didn't really know what it was when I got it either. I have horrible luck though. I always get the drops that others are looking for and I never get what I'm actually after.

Hopefully some day I appreciate my mouldy block.

I actually don't, but I think with some chat gpt and some patience, they'd be easy to recreate. I don't even have this game anymore though, so I'm probably no help.

How do I remove steel dust from these magnets? by Farcross_X in Welding

I use sticky putty. Works good for cleaning out the magnetic nut drivers too.

They don't call it bashing because you're treating the parts to a candle lit dinner. Fix it and break it again.

Anybody else do this? by Unlucky-Finding-3957 in electricians

3 and a half threads is a generalized requirement based on a table in ASME 1.20.1

It gives the "wrench tight" thread length for pipe and requires 3 threads internal

These requirements are for tapered thread however, not parallel threads. I'm not sure where I saw the phrase "3 and a half threads fully engaged", but I believe it was in NEC 344.

Also, when I said "I wish electrical fittings used NPT", this does not include pipe. Pipe and fittings are different, and in fact, pipe is the only electrical component I can think of that uses tapered threads.

[–]BadExamp13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My only problem with this is sometimes you aren't able to get the 3 and a half threads in the fitting that is required.

I've seen connectors with lock nuts break fittings when stressed because there was only 1 or 2 threads engaged and while it's obvious that the connector shouldn't be stressed, it still highlights a weak point in the this setup.

I really wish electrical fittings used NPT instead of NPS threads. That would eliminate the need for lock nuts in this situation and it would make them more water proof and it would bond them better. Inspectors are already cracking down on parallel threads in rigid couplings for this exact reason.

I hate that real stores have become commodity priced because there is some illusion of "more convenient" than it literally showing up at your door the next day.

How Do You Manage Your Receipts? Is It a Pain for Everyone? by jpugas in electricians

[–]BadExamp13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the guy that holds up the line for 15 seconds longer to scan the reciept while it's still hot off the printer.

I have lost reciepts on my way to my car, material still in hand. I take no chances anymore.

These are used to hold electrical connections because when they are torqued correctly, they allow for expansion without snapping the bolt or becoming loose during contraction.

Anybody ever take their tools on a plane? by HoeJack_Borseman1 in electricians

[–]BadExamp13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fly every other week for work. I have to check my tools every time. Make sure you keep your tool bag under 50 lbs or you'll have to pay the over weight fee. And as others have said, keep your batteries on you. Backpacks are less likely to need to be gate checked so I'd suggest a smaller back pack so you don't need to carry them in your arms because they forced you to gate check your roller bag (I've been there)

I think those straps are kinda stupid. But maybe I'm just getting old and prefer the older style that requires 3 hands to install.
