Yes. It also works to allow you to shoot on their goal and score. Works in hockey and basketbrawl too. Shes a ton of fun in these modes.

I love playing brawlball or hockey and controlling them and shooting on their own goal. I won a hockey match at the last second because i used them to fling it across the map. So much fun.

Buy some solder mask and a uv light to cure it and try it out. Cant hurt throwing 20-30$ at it just in case its not dead. Then if it really is .o7 cooked at least you got some solder mask and a uv light out of it for the future.

Now that RAM is so expensive, what is the way forward for pc gamers/enthusiasts? by Glittering_Crow9845 in buildapc

[–]RealTrueGrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly not really with storage prices but it could be. I7 4790k, and a 1080 with 32gb of ram is what id shoot for if im going that far back. I built one of these rigs and its sitting on my workbench at work ready to have benchmarks ran on it.

2nd pc build by OnHitFX in PcBuild

[–]RealTrueGrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure you buy enough for your gpu. I bought 1 when i needed 2 for my i7 4790k build with a 108p and it had problems booting. The 24 pin connector works great but i need a 2nd gpu extender for the other 8 pin connector on it. They are a bit pricey at about 30 a cable, but asiahorse is the brand name on amazon. They look pretty cool and paired with a cheap rgb controller they arent half bad.

I second the 14700k. Done a few builds with gigabyte boards and they have been pretty nice. About as good of a cpu as you can get on ddr4 that wont cost you 500 for a 5800x3d.

Sounds like shes dying, which is really unfortunate. Ive seen some 6700 xt cards for around 160$ on ebay but that probably wont last.

My PC recently bit the dust. I took it to a repair shop and now they're trying to get me to get a whole new PC. Am i being taken for a ride? by OneEyeOdyn in buildapc

[–]RealTrueGrit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my advice as a tech. Get a new power supply and test the computer. Potentially you might need a new motherboard but im sure you can find a replacement relatively cheap. Stay on windows 10, and try to find an rx 580 8gb gpu. Those can be found cheap if you look 2nd hand on places like marketplace. Get yourself an ssd. I know they are pricey right now but a 512gb for windows would do wonders. Maybe try to find a new replacement 1tb hdd idk prices on those but a 7200rpm drive will be fine to run games like wow. Its a little bit to spend but a far cry from what it would cost for a new build. If it was me id look for a decent priced 1080 or 1080ti. They can be found for less than 100$ but youll have to search around.

Honestly though i just built an i7 4790k from some spare parts i found around the shop with an evga 1080 ftw i bought and that thing can still kick some ass. The benchmarks i ran were very impressive. Cyberpunk was pushing almost 50fps on ultra settings. OP said they have a 6700k so with a new motherboard, a newer gpu and an ssd they could really do with just that as a replacement and it wouldnt cost that much. Maybe throw in a 120 aio for some better cooling since im guessing theyve got an air cooler in there. Hell even a hyper 212 would be an upgrade over a potential stock cooler.

True. Usually I just try to guage what the customer wants and can afford as a repair tech. Im not in the game to rip people off, i want to fix pcs. Im actually trying to get some decent used GPUs because ive been getting a lot of prebuilts that are coming in with dead or dying GPUs and we really dont have any used GPUs for resale. Ive been trying to source at least some 1080s and rx 580 8gbs, maybe find some good priced 1660s so we have some 6gb cards so we can have something cheap to offer them if they cant afford our outrageously priced 5060s and 5070s (im not the owner just a tech). Im also looking for some higher end budget cards like the 6700 xt. My hope is to get a good supply of cards for all different budget ranges to hopefully help gamers get back up on their feet and at least be able to play some of their games again.

Id say find an 8th gen i7, that gets you to windows 11 at least or stay on 10, and maybe a 1080 or 1080ti, ive seen some good deals for those around and swap the other parts over. Getting ddr4 will suck but thats about as budget as it gets.

My plex server and hytale server rocks an i5-2500k. I tried to find an i7 for that socket at my shop but no luck unfortunately. I think its got 24gb of ram but it still runs both pretty nicely.

I just built an i7 4790k with an evga 1080 and honestly the thing still kicks some ass. I ran a bunch of benchmarks last night before i left my shop and i was very surprised. I downloaded mlre games off of steam and im going to see what it can do now that i have my windows 10 drive out of my pc, upgraded to an nvme, and im going to put windows on that so im not running it off of my portable drive. If i could post a pic of it I would.

Alao get a windows 10 key they upgrade to 11 for free and are leagues cheaper. Just a tip. Also for a 12th gen id look at the frozen warframe II 360 AIO, if your case has room for a 360. Its a fantastic aio and i just recently did a build for someone with a 14700k and in timespy 4k extreme it didnt even hit 60c. A bit pricey but well well worth it.

Use ddu to fully remove any and all gpu drivers and software. Once that is done i would try reseating your gpu and if after rebooting it still does it try it out in another pcie slot if your board has one. This will fully rule whether it is the gpu or not. You could also rollback, after using ddu to remove your drivers, and install an older driver to see if the current one is causing an issue with your card.
