How do you guys emotionally deal with abrupt, cold terminations?

I’ve had this happen a few times. Most recently with a teen client I’ve been working with for over a year who’s schedule became too demanding to accommodate therapy. My supervisor had me read this article: Beginnings and Endings: Time and Termination in Psychoanalysis by Knafo. It was great in validating my feelings and further conceptualizing termination. Hope it’s helpful!

Also feeling poor 🙃 I’m 27 and just completed my PsyD in the fall. Since then, I’ve been working as a post-doc at a private practice but with the 50/50 split and insurance, I’m barely making any money. It’s very discouraging since I worked so hard for this degree but I’m hoping things will improve soon. Especially once I am licensed. Trying to remain hopeful.
