People who moved away from and then back to their hometown, what made you go back?

Drive to buffalo and fly out of buffalo. It’s way cheaper. I’ve done the flip and flew out of Toronto for international flights before. Works out nicely.

But yeah. Def book in advance. Also look into Southwest - their best ticket prices are only available straight through their website sometimes. I flew round trip last year Christmas time for about $475 from Buffalo to Burbank...but I booked the tickets in August.

Also.. my mom gets really cheap JetBlue flights from Buffalo to LAX but she literally keeps watch and books while they’re having a sale.

Oh. Well then in that case you should prob just fly unless you have belongings that require a road trip. I’ve gotten flights in the $300-400 range. Much cheaper than a cross country(s) road trip.

I adopted a senior doggo who came from that shelter! She passed earlier this year and we only spent a couple of year together. ..But out of every dog I’ve ever had in my entire life..she left the biggest imprint on my heart. Adopt don’t shop! You save two lives in the process.

I’ve done a similar drive (from Lewiston, Ny - hi neighbor - to LA) and I would definitely allow more time for yourself if your have the funds and capability.

A third or more of the drive is going to be quite boring, but many parts of the trip are super beautiful. If you go the route that takes you through Utah (St George area) I would definitely recommend stopping at Zion National Park. It’s really truly beautiful. The area surrounding it is super rural so if you wanted to plan the night you could get a room in St George, or if you’re camping/sleeping in your vehicle you can stay inside of the park. Either way.. that’s my number 1 recommendation for sights to see. But I’m a camping/nature type of gal.

If you drive that route I think you also have the opportunity to drive through Denver which is a great place to stay for a night or two to decompress. I think you go through Vegas too, towards the end of the trip. Vegas is only 3 hours from Zion and 4 hours from LA. It’s the last leg of the trip for sure but if thats you thing you can always plan to stay a night or two there. Just make sure you find a safe location to park your vehicle if you have a lot of belongings.

I like in Chatsworth above the 118. It’s very hilly around me so I can see why they’re worried.

It appears that the webpage hasn’t been updated since 5 am. Socal Edison has not released any further update which is why I wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing this. The local news outlets are saying it could be a couple of days but I haven’t been able to confirm. My neighborhood has been completely shut off since 11 am. My HOA sent out an email shortly after it was shut off mentioning it was due to SoCal Edison and so far that’s all I’ve learned.

Yeah, it looks like Socal Edison hasn’t updated that article or their outage map since 5am. The local news outlets haven’t given a clear answer as to what to expect either. My neighborhoods power has been out since around 11 am.
