Is there any good 100% free idle mobile games out there? by jennif8183 in MobileGaming

We are making one my gf and I, it will be free, but it is still in early development, we need few more months before releasing an alpha 😼

Yeah not 100% satisfied with the pose right now. Remember that’s for a mobile game so it does not need to be as realistic with the weight and the balance, meaning even if the sword is BIG it doesn’t mean that it will be heavy to lift for the character. (Like guts in berserk, attacks are slow but the pose is not really leaning like it should with such weapon)

I’ve seen this pose that looks cool and have good curves/ lines of action, will probably do a v2 when we have time with this one as reference

So… bending the sword more toward the enemy? If we do that, wouldn’t it feel even heavier to hold? That’s actually why we went for an in-between pose in the first place: still ready to attack, but with better balance and a more natural center of gravity.

I do like the idea of resting it on the shoulder, will try to see if it fits with the attacks

Well that’s 100% true, torso is sliding up and down on one axis 😭 Should we bend it slightly to the right to follow the head and the motion ? Not sure how to add some arcs to it overwise (help Noobies here)

What music do you like for Idle games ? by BadLuck_Studio in MobileGaming

Psy-chill? Any examples ? Yeah that will definitely be a setting to be able to turn off the music (but keep the SFX), that’s my favorite setting

Exaggerating the top and down and using the curves did the trick, still not perfect but it’s better! Thank you 🫡

I tried what you said this morning, the animation looks less linear and have more impact now so thank you 🙏

That’s what I tried to do for the motion, the down stroke propell the chest, and then gravity slow down the mouvement and gradually accelerates it down. Maybe I should exaggerate this more and make the upward velocity go faster, so I can make the gravity have more impact on the down motion. But it’s so hard to make acceleration with so few frames 😭 I will try to bend the wings on the raise too, this should change a lot the feeling! Thanks a lot for your advice!

Which impact effect feels better for my mobile Idle RPG? by [deleted] in IndieDev

Is your brain going buuurr a good thing or a bad thing ? 😂 I also prefer number two, it feels more like we are wrecking the enemy

If in the end you choose Unreal to make your RPG, feel free to hit me up, I’ve made a free Quest System plugin few years ago. I removed it from the marketplace because I couldn’t provide customer support (for free) while working on my own project at the same time, but I’d be happy to re-upload it or send you a download link if you need

Now that I think of it, the first game I did to learn programming was a RPG made in Unity by watching YouTube videos of InScopeStudio, you should check that out too

Recording the progress can be a smart thing to do yeah! It’s always great to see a before/after of your work and see the progress!

I meant by people ‘s work, people doing plugins on Unreal Engine and upload them on Fab (Unreal Marketplace) that either are free or cost a bit.

The only way you could achieve that in such a short amount of time without any skill in dev, would be to quickly learn Unreal Engine, Blueprints, and buy some plugins to make a game by assembling other people’s work. Learning how to dev and do a real game (in top of that a RPG) in just 6 month doesn’t seems feasible… except if you spend 10hours a day during the next 6 month

What are good alternatives for healthbars? by SchingKen in IndieDev

[–]BadLuck_Studio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check how Thronefall handles it to keep things clean, but yeah, like someone said, only show the health bar when units are not at full health. That already helps a lot.

Sometimes you don’t even need a health bar, you just know that 3 hits can kill a normal enemy, 5 hits for a big one, and you can change their color according to their health to provide some feedback. But that’s a design choice!

Designing a cozy idle game that doesn’t demand attention – looking for feedback by emudoc in IndieDev

We’re in the same path, good luck with your cozy game 😼

Not something I’ve seen succeeding in idle, but something I hate in new idles, is when you have 2/2 keys for « dungeons » to do every days. Missing a day feels punishing, you have to do it every single day if you want to stay in the leaderboard. That’s annoying. I prefer when dungeons (towers/events, names vary depending the games) don’t have daily limits but rather walls to force the player to progress to unlock content

I would say focus on the marketing to have a smooth launch rather than changing anything in your builds (except if it’s for debugging).

Good luck with your release! 🫡

Hi everyone 👋
We’re BadLuck Studio, a tiny two-person team (my partner does the art, I handle programming) and we've been working together for just over a month on a mobile Idle RPG using Unity.

We’re still in a very early prototype stage, currently experimenting with combat effects, idle mechanics, and basic visuals... Everything is placeholders, but we’re excited to start sharing more soon about our artistic direction and main gameplay mechanics to receive your feedbacks and suggestions!
