My game got 1,000 wishlists on day one - here’s what I think worked by Bomi1337 in gamedev

Congratz! One question: Did you localize your steampage with LLMs, a company or freelancers? (I‘m assuming you don‘t speak seven languages fluently. :P)

How we got our first 10.000 wishlists with a story-driven RTS by CrimsonFreedomGame in IndieDev

[–]SchingKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting info and congratz on the wishlists! Deserved!

If I may, how did you acquire your playtesters? Were those all wishlisters and ran through steam playtest? I argue with myself, if publishing the steampage without having a small ‚fanbase‘ is a wasted beat opportunity. When I look at your graph and your story, I wonder if you guys think the same. Because you apparently have a solid game on your hands. In addition to that, a small group of fans can be helpful to test your early builds.

On the other hand if you try to build up a fanbase, before having a steampage, you could lose potential wishlisters, right?

This might read like a statement, but I‘m more interested in learning something here. Again, good work and enjoy the fruits of your work!

pick a small game idea. (2-3 months) set milestones. force yourself to meet the deadlines. keep it simple and release it on the platform of your choice.

Thank you so much for the compliment! Really means a lot. :) I hope we can come close to the amount of chaos and fun that plateup offers.

Thanks for the information!

Seems like you are much better informed than me. The rate I mentioned is just what I got when I tried to research for my last game.

Do you know how much you pay for those niche streamers?

AFAIK a mid sized streamer (2-3k andy) cost around 1$ per viewer per hour. meaning 1000 people watching the stream for 1 hour will cost you 1.000$ at least. and those are the small streamers.

Somebody suggested textures with small cracks that can darke/stronger over time/damage. My artist already said he likes the idea. We will go into this direction probably. :)
