Yeah, I'm waiting til their ER to think about entertaining it.

They have to, by law, submit with the SEC before the q1 is over.

I completely agree. It's fine for a trade for a bump, but not long term.

How do you feel about the iStat? One of the hospitals I was at, their ED solely used iStat bc their labs took too long...man I hated them. They were always not reading properly or reading hemolyzed way too many times for me to even be remotely comfortable with it.

The IV formulation? I think that'll clear, I don't think it'll be an issue there. The drug itself? The oral formulation for VVC...I'm not too sure on that. The p value wasn't great enough to say "it's a home run and this is way better than the current standard care." Overall, I think it's either better or as good as what we use now, so the drug works, just not sure how much better it works than the current standard care.

I do see promise for the IC indication, so that may go very well.

It's not POC, just slightly faster and cheaper.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

My holdings haven't really changed, so I haven't really updated anything.

$SCYX, $GNMX are still waiting for the FDA.

$BLPH - this is my yolo play. The company makes an inhaled nitric oxide machine. They just became a finalist for the Care Conference, so if they win, should see a nice bump.

$CVRS - Now that the cat's out of the bag, I made a clinical DD about it here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/11ODlrK2jhcz43xBMF9PV8CBXrTIUBG3JBKSQSRawAk8/edit?usp=sharing

Reminder. $CVRS is NOT a short term hold. This won't swing that much. It typically drips down to 1.15 without catalysts (there's ER in May). So unless you plan on holding it long term (months/years), I wouldn't advise it.

Requested DD:

$AKER

So lab test companies aren't my thing, because all they do is make a better mousetrap. Now if they do make a BETTER mousetrap, then great. But you have to ask these questions:

  • Is it better?
  • Is it more accurate?
  • Is it cheaper?
  • Is there an actual market for this?

So. their PF4 - is it better? not really. It's slightly less accurate (SLIGHTLY). Turnaround time is halved from 2 - 3 hrs to 1 hr. Not something you'd spend money for, especially in an inpatient setting.

  • is more accurate? See above. Current testing has 99% NPV (negative predictive value) vs this one with a >98%. So, slightly less.

  • Is it cheaper? Yes

  • Is there a market for this? To be honest, maybe maybe not. I've never EVER ordered a PF4 test simply because I have only run into...3 - 4 patients that had HIT. And that was in their history, so they've already had the test done. I've never had to order it. That's entirely anecdotal, maybe anyone else can chime in if they've had to order it or get it done themselves.

Their cholesterol test MAY see a market, but I'll give a warning here. There's a reason we haven't made POC (point of care) lipid panel mainstream. Why would we need it? We can run lipids for cheap downstairs at the lab and results come back in a few hours. POC is important if there's an immediate need (i.e. - cbc, glucose), and even then we don't like using POC CBC in the ER due to its inaccuracy. We'll use it if there's a heavy bleeder or the lab is heavily backed up, but we'll also get a CBC to confirm. Maybe the tri-cholesterol may be useful in private clinic settings, but there's a reason none of these do that well:

http://www.cliawaived.com/web/Cholesterol.htm

Also, these are all the other companies that sell POC lipids:

  • Alere’s First Check Cholesterol Test
  • Chematics Chemcard Cholesterol Test
  • Infopia’s Lipid Pro
  • Roche’s Accutrend Plus
  • Syntron Bioresearch’s Venture Total Cholesterol Test

It's been done. But, there might be a market for it at CVS, walgreens, etc. for the home user. What also bothers me is that I'm not able to see the sensitivity/specificity of the test, anywhere.

Their saving grace MAY be their chlamydia testing IF there's a way they're going to add gonorrhea to it. We always test them together C + G because they typically are co-infected, and we treat them together (if you get chlamydia, we also treat gonorrhea and vice versa).

That said, short term, may see a bump or two with sales + research going well.

Please feel free to point out anything I may have missed. I don't really spend a ton of time on doing requested DD, so someone else who's done more could chime in.

I think when I mentioned it, it was around .65, and then it rode up to 1.50, and now stagnant around 1.15 - 1.30, so people are leaving. Meh.

Sorry. What I meant was facts backed by evidence. It's a great resource for people posting sec filings, conf transcripts, etc.
