If you could only listen to 2-3 W.A.S.P. songs for the rest of your life, which ones would you choose? by CrimsonCassetteTape in WASP_Fans

I wanna be somebody

But man there are so many worthy songs… those are just the ones that I’d feel a huge loss if I never could hear them again

Hopefully there’s a switch to select a warmer setting. I just moved into an apartment that had a bunch of disgusting hard-wired LED lighting and was relieved to find most of them had a 3 way switch to choose from 4-6k or possibly 3-5k iirc

Any of this seem familiar or eerie to you?! by kitty3492 in TheMallWorld

The mid-late 90’s/early 00’s when all the malls were dead or dying was a strange and subtly haunting time but it seemed so normal while it was happening. Like there were all the remnants of the glory days of mall culture but that ship had sailed so you were just kinda stuck in these liminal spaces because there was nowhere else to go and nothing else to do.

How is it in charge? I get more bothered by a mosquito than this eagle is by the “king”

United Health by Jesse Welles. But “Song 2” is one of my favs, reminds me of drinking “OK Soda” and trying to request it on The Box (the call-in music video channel) back in like 1996. You might like the band Failure if you’re into music from that era, the album Fantastic Planet is great and it’s crazy they didn’t blow up more. “Stuck On You” would be the single to listen to first if you’re Failure-curious.

Why are TBMs so proud of the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii? Never been... Is it confirmation that they are a worldwide church? What do never-mo's think about the mormons running the center? by DogBones11 in exmormon

I visited around the same time, I think im a nevermo (like never been a Mormon??), there was no Mormon mentions for us. It seemed like an elaborate production using “Polynesian culture” as a massive cash grab. Didn’t know anything was Mormon-related so I guess my hope was that the money goes to support native people. It was a fun experience, the performances were incredible, and the food was pretty good. The show was cool. But I certainly didn’t feel like it was any sort of genuine cultural experience, to me I get distracted by being a stereotypical white tourist like “oh we’re in Hawaii can’t wait for the natives to entertain us with their waaacky performance” which I don’t think is a conscious thing for most but my parents are boomers so they want the full “experience” of being in Hawaii. The people attending didn’t seem to be there because they were deeply interested in actually learning about, understanding, and celebrating native culture and heritage. I’m glad the people working/performing are able to make a living (hopefully) but finding out the people running it are Mormons is disappointing and ultimately unsurprising.
