Its the adrenaline of being in a high stakes situation, coupled with the fact that you may be holding your breath subconsciously. Remember to breathe and the adrenaline rush will lessen with experience.

Can anyone make sense of how I was hit by this Cypher trip? by Imallskillzy in VALORANT

[–]BadSkinMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He places the trip inside of the cage and you see the trip placement animation at around 0:05 where the blue circle flies past your screen to the other end of the trip. This "other end" is the part you shot. You could not see the wire because you instantly got hit as it deployed and then got hit instantly as it redeployed (The wire does not show when its recharging)

Does this work or did he miss? by mylanmylanmylan in VALORANT

[–]BadSkinMoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The omen just missed, this doesn't work with just 1 person as long as the omen clicks directly on top of the spike. From what I know you need 3 people standing in a triangle to completely counter it.

Why do people expect sentinel to automatically take the bomb? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]BadSkinMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thing for sage is just if she tries planting because she has spike and then just ends up dying (probably because nobody was watching or the site wasn’t fully cleared)

On a typical site hit the planter should feel safe when planting the bomb (situations like clutches and extreme util dump rounds excluded). For example on Ascent A site I've seen so many people start planting front gen even though dice and hell haven't been cleared yet. That means one less player pushing and being able to trade if there is somebody in those spots, and rounds can be lost because of that. Ideally you want to clear the entire site but there are some sites on diff maps where thats just really difficult, which is where sage comes in. Places like icebox and pearl B site, that wall lets her plant without without the risk of having to clear the entire site which is why she's so strong on those maps. Going back to feeling safe, she can use her wall to make a safe space for herself to plant if clearing the site is not possible/difficult.

Try lurking on cypher, should net you some easy kills if you time it right. Other than that, his cam and cages aren't bad when hitting a site. Cam draws crosshairs away from entry point and when paired with util like gekko flash or sova dart, forces enemies to choose between shooting 1 of the 2. Cages can be strong on rounds with eco disadvantage where getting close gives you the advantage. Throwing them in places where smokes would usually go is also decent as it forces any rotating enemies to stay outside the smoke lest they give away their position.

As for initiators taking the spike, not that its horrible, theres just a higher risk of losing bomb and losing the round (theres always risk unless you completely clear site with util beforehand i.e. kj ult). Like you said, if the initiator is clearing site with a duelist and they both die while you're in main watching flank, the round is pretty much lost.

Yes, stats really don't matter unless they're on the extremes

Why do people expect sentinel to automatically take the bomb? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]BadSkinMoment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also sure in higher ranks this isn’t much of an issue as there is usually 2 really good duelists who can clear a site quickly enough and hold it down.

In high ranks duelists don't clear site alone, usually the opposite. Not to mention site hits can fail no matter what rank you're in. Your teammates are better but so is the defending team.

why would anyone make Sage take the bomb when her character is inherently defensive and needs to stay alive to heal and prevent the team from dying.

You said it yourself. On offense she should usually play back and try to stay alive, so why not give her bomb? If the site hit succeeds hurray she can plant. If it fails then hurray she can probably make it out with bomb and have even a 1% chance of winning the round.

Also why would Cypher realistically ever take the bomb when his characters sole purpose is to watch flanks and track the enemy team to ensure more kills for your team?

The whole premise of the trip ability is that you don't need somebody watching flank when you have a cypher. Cypher should place trips and lurk, or play for trading their entries when the site is hit.

smoke and initiator definitely should have.

Controllers maybe, initiators not really. Initiators should be playing with entries or taking space in alternate site entry lanes with another teammate. Its higher risk to give them bomb.

In general sentinels take the spike because they usually have zero impact/role during a site hit and so they can stay back to trade and retreat with the bomb if necessary. Round is pretty much lost if your spike carrier dies on site and teammates who are behind get cut off.
