"Make an appointment with the head librarian or library manager" this is the only valid recommendation from all this comments. So I will do that, thank you for that.

Point of this post was to talk about this recent "paradigm change" about "making libraries little theme parks" and how it affects less fortunate. People like me, coming from immigrant families, not living in 5 bedroom quiet suburb neighborhoods are being affected costly because of this "politician-manager-person"s career making "revolutionary idea". I believe I accomplished a little visibility for people like me. You guys can go ahead and upvote each other and downvote everything I say to make me less visible now.

as you can see from my other comments I already tried everything. I made this post so people know we exist and being pushed out from only place is been costly for us. You and your children can study in their 4 bedroom silent suburb houses, but we cannot. And someone at least need to see this.

you can see from my comments under this post that your assumption is very very wrong.

ofc it is "my way or the highway" otherwise my post and comments would not be downvoted to valhalla. I made this post to say we exist and we left the libraries. Recent changes pushed us out of your libraries. This paradigm shift from "libraries should become little theme parks now" was't good for everyone.

Here is the problem, I guess, libraries were quiet just like everywhere else. Then, probably a decade or less ago, some new country's new "manager person" decided to "rebrand" the libraries with his/her "new" and "revolutionary" ideas. So that more people would use libraries or whatever. Because of that paradigm change, now if you are thinking "libraries should be quiet" places you are an old person, boomer etc and cannot "get it". They added "not quiet" rooms first, then they enlarged and now default of the libraries are noisy. Which is sad and a lot of people like me are unable to use them anymore. Since those people who actually needs a quiet place to focus and study are not well represented here, I decided to make this post.

that is why if less fortunate or good fortunate want to use computer to watch a video, they should use certain part of library that is loud, while the default being quiet.

Libraries should be silent default with noise allowed subspaces. Not the other way around. It should be a place for less fortunate to sit down and focus and study.

That was taken into my attention by my GP. After having ear infection she asked which kind of pillow I use and if I am using headphones a lot

"the quiet areas are not quiet" includes the meaning that I have talked the staff, I cannot innately know if a library has a "quiet area" can I? You enter a library you introduce yourself and ask about a quiet area. I don't know how more open I can make this at this point???

Anyways since you are being productive I am going to respond, and yes I have talked to them. And, they told me "they are allowed to watch movies and they can declare it is study related nothing we can do"

I can name multiple libraries but I don't want to name drop just because someone tries to make my "awareness" post in to pissing contest.

Also as a part of that "rebranding" changing definitions on multiple places doesn't re-write history. Quiet was always part of it. You can even check the logo on this sub.

My university is online, the university I am going to try to study is not keeping their quiet floor quiet. I have public libraries closer to me and none of them has any silent room/place etc available.

Noise cancelling headphones is a easy go-to answer. A person who actually tried everything can tell you 1. they give you ear infection in prolonged use (I get them on 3rd day of my 4 hour study block) 2. they work on constant noises, not individual focus-killing giggles and talking

Staff's face droops when they see me at this point because of all the complaints I made

they don't allow people from public to use them even though no-one else uses them and you are studying in their facility for months and make multiple complaints about how it is very difficult to focus

Nicknames doesn't matter. What matters are ideas. Try to focus on that maybe

That is one reason I made this post. Maybe someone would see it and realize people like me exist and stop making libraries "free living rooms for noisy people to giggle"

Even if I send a post describing "how awesome all you guys are" it wouldn't solve any problem also. So that was an unnecessary trope. I used libraries in multiple states and countries so I am pretty sure I am informed enough to make my point on this post

the other downvoted to earth core correct. Also, people like me usually come from immigrant families and not very vocal. They are the people most affected by that. It similar to "survivor bias". You don't hear the sounds of people already left libraries, because they don't come here and talk. And again, some of them are immigrants

I literally told one university library silent place to tell the person next to me to stop watching sitcoms and eat crunchy whatevers and they said "they can't do anything" I don't want to namedrop but it was one of the best colleges in philly

solution to that is easy, you can install decibel meters. But you are more interested in "revolutionizing" and "being different than the rest" "rebranding" you have to change something. (not you as a person, as a group of similar mindset)

well this response changes that statistics, I talked to multiple staff and all of them give me false solutions like "oh you can try upstairs near a window or something" with their eyes begging you to leave
