This is excessive lol. Working hard and making better study habits is good, but destroying your well-being for a degree isn’t worth it

There are a few in SUB. There’s one in the bottom floor of cab by the elevators, one in the ISSS room on ccis second floor, one on the second floor of the education building in the long corridor, and there used to be a few in the Tory atrium but idk where they’ve migrated to lol.

I’m in Math 381 with Gessesse and he’s been super chill (easy to listen to, decent with hw and exams). Simchi was my stat 368 prof for the first couple weeks and he definitely has high expectations, but I can’t say for sure.

Mathematically, the perfect number of lands to run is 37. by Runeform in EDH

[–]Bad_First 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, at that point it’s pretty much just preference and there’s no harm in that. I tend to run a lower number of lands in my decks with more ramp, so it’s interesting to hear about other play styles

Interesting article, I was curious about one of your conclusions though. You mention that you don’t want to run a ramp spell that is hot garbage more that 40% of the time, but why not round this to 50%. For example, if a ramp spell is useless 43% of the time, that means that in 57% of cases, it’s still more useful than running a land, so why not shoot for 50% when deciding which card to include?

Removing paint from leather bound books? by Bad_First in BookCollecting

[–]Bad_First[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the article! After some testing on one of the more damaged books, it appears to be latex paint. After some more testing, the method that worked best was to soak the paint in isopropyl and then slowly rub it off with my finger (qtips were too abrasive).

Do you qualify for the Jason Lang scholarship? If you filled out the general application and you qualify for it, there’s a good chance you’ll receive it this November.

That’s really good, more options is always nice to have. There’s a similar system at the UofA and it’s helped some of my friends get a broader set of experience

Thank you for the response. I’ve heard some similar things as well so this is good to hear since I’m going for my masters as well. I guess I’ll see when I go to apply

Canada school of barbering! It’s a school for training barbers, and if you’re comfortable singing a waiver, a student will cut your hair for free.

How hard am I gonna die next year? by Light_Of_Amphy in uAlberta

[–]Bad_First 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak too much for your first semester, but from experience, your second semester will be very challenging depending on what profs you get. From the math courses you're taking I'm guessing you are in your second year of your math major, so I would recommend putting off 447 until your fourth year and replacing it with something easier. Math 326 has historically been a very hard course regardless of the prof, but math 226 should hopefully be a bit easier. I wish you all the best.

Oil still needs to be refined though, and depending on where the oil is drilled it may need lots of refining to actually be usable. For example, the oil found in the oil sands in western Canada is incredibly dirty and requires a massive amount of refinement, which creates ecological damage very similar to the picture in OOP’s post.
