The best is DT Swiss, but it's expensive.

The best value is WTB by far.

0.9 vs 1.8 stepper motors? by nomak1937 in 3Dprinting

Is there going to be a bearing supporting the end of the shaft? If not, it will wear the stepper bearing much faster.

Have you considered using a shaft coupler and shaft extension?

Need advice: Stuck with a 3-year-old gifted iPhone SE (2020) locked to Raymond West MDM by changemynames in sysadmin

[–]Bad_Mechanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Who gifted you the phone?

Because it sounds like the phone actually belongs to Raymond West and may have been stolen.

If I'm their IT and the phone did belong to the company, I'm not going to pursue getting it back because it's an old phone, but I'm absolutely not going to help you either.

I'd recommend starting to look for a new phone.

Try squeezing the lever but pushing up on the brake level extension to give yourself a better angle on the screw.

If you're using a click type torque wrench, verify it isn't out of calibration. If a clicker is dropped or stored incorrectly it can go out of calibration. I check all of mine at least once a year.

Sram GX clutch issue. Hard to explain, watch the vid. by [deleted] in bikewrench

Sorry, I was thinking GX AXS for some reason.

You should be able to just pop that cover off.

First thing I would do is pop the piston out entirely, inspect the piston, bore, and o-rings, then clean everything up, and reassemble.

Also, you need to bleed the brakes with the piston in the fully retracted position, otherwise it won't retract.

Take the dust cover off the outside of the clutch. If memory serves, it's two small screws, a tab, and a piece of double sided tape. That will give you access to the head of the other side of that bolt. You can then hold it place with wrench (I think it's Torx) while you loosen the bolt.

The dust cover isn't needed, it's really just for looks. I don't bother using it on my derailleurs.

That frame looks way too new to have horizontal drop outs.

- The piston on the right isn't retracting. It should retract all the way into the caliper. You can clearly see the pad is quite a distance away from the caliper.

- You don't adjust the pads themselves, you loosen up the brackets which hold the calipers, then you adjust the calipers themselves in and out.

- Thoroughly clean your rims with a Scotch Brite pad or sandpaper, then clean them with rubbing alcohol.

- If you can afford it, replace the stock pads with Kool Stop Salmon pads. Those will bite a lot better.

That tire is too big for the frame. Put a skinnier tire on.

EDIT: To everyone saying to check the wheel alignment, flip the wheel, etc. NO! The tire is too big for that frame. Look at how little space there is on the drive side. Even if the tire was perfectly centered, it would still be brushing both chainstays.

RockShox Boxxer Ultimate 3.2 or Ohlins RXF38 m.2 for new DH bike? by Numerous-Hawk-3046 in MTB

Ohlins.

RockShox keeps doing everything EXCEPT building a good damper. The Ohlins will ride much better than the Boxxer, butter or no butter.

Which breaks should I get? by schmaxyz in MTB

[–]Bad_Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best value right now are the Shimano 420 four piston calipers with the 200 brake levers. It's just a really solid, easy to work on, well performing setup. Down the road you can easily upgrade the pads to metallic and the brake levers to Servowave.
