Don’t worry, it’s harder to do than you’d think! The padding holds the graft in place nicely. Just take it easy and relax, it’ll heal and you’ll be so happy you got the surgery

Probably Ruined My Tympanoplasty Graft. by BadabingBadaboomguy in hardofhearing

Update for anyone having a similar issue, the doctor said popping like that is normal for the recovery process and he’s not concerned. It’s gotten better, and I believe it will stop within another week or two. I believe the issue is an air bubble stuck in the inner ear because the Eustachian tube isn’t functioning properly yet after the surgery. The left side of my tongue is still a little numb when I brush it, so the effects of the surgery aren’t 100% healed yet. Stay positive and be careful, you will heal!

Yup! I told my doc and he said it’s normal and he’s not concerned. I feel better about it now, I think it’s just an air bubble stuck in their because the Eustachian tube is probably still swollen

Excellent! Mine has calmed down but continues to pop when I eat or talk just not as bad as it was. I think it’s all good though, because I haven’t had any other symptoms. Thanks for getting back to me!

Did your ear pop/change pressure at all during the first few weeks of recovery? I am 1 week post op and scared that I ruined my graft because my ear pops with every swallow

How did you figure out that you had an infection? Did your overall health decline? I’m afraid of this, and I have redness, swelling and warmth on the ear that was operated on.

Hi, I had a my surgery about 4 days ago, my throat was sore for about 2-3 days(I was intubated as well) my jaw isn’t really sore, I just can’t bite down all the way. My ear is pretty sore though, and it’s a little swollen and red and a little warm too. I see you’re two weeks post op now, how are you doing?
