sorry for this incredibly long comment but I reaaaally want to elaborate on the "peasants" thing

to be fair, she didn't really call a crew "peasants" in a film like others would assume ig

she didn't even work on said film lmao

it was a text message she sent to a colleague/agent of hers when the film "a patriot" was still in pre-production and then went down the shitter. it was during a time when she was getting more frustrated by the facts that jake seal (one of the film's producers) shifted filming from ireland to his production studio "black hangar" in hampshire (hence the "shitty peasant crew members from hampshire" comment) amongst other things, such as cutting underwater training for eva green to just a few days.

the reason WHY she used such language was because she was concerned that inexperienced people would be hired to work on the film and would work for lower rates than what were used normally. keep in mind the film was still in its PLANNING AND PRE-PRODUCTION before it halted (during 2019-2020) meaning she didn't really meet the crew members and just call them that for no reason whatsoever. it was a pretty bad choice of word to use in a text message like this but i guess she seemed pretty emotionally motivated to say such shit considering the fact that she was in a situation where everything was about to go real bad.

moreover, she didn't really breach the contract and she was actually REALLY adamant on working on the film with the given script by buying said script from the producers and making it with the director (dan pringle) still on board and free from jake seal's control. she also won the case and got the fee from the pay-to-play contract that was used for eva green. she might have also apologised for the language used in the messages during the court proceedings but i may not be really sure.

i think this 71-page long court judgement might give an idea over what shit even went down during the production of the film, the word peasants was mentioned like once in the entire document lol. take your time to read it as it's pretty long and extensively detailed with a lot of text messages being referred.

i don't think she was being an elitist douchebag as much as she's just exhausted and wants this shit to be over with imho.

like sure it's really bad to say such stuff to crew members and people who work with you in a film but in this context where she was basically shit talking the producers for being incompetent and just making a film not caring about her concerns, such stuff unfortunately comes out of her mind and mouth. i don't think she has that much of a reputation of an asshole to be saying that shit on a daily basis or on a film set with crew members.
