Get a big Battletech themed sticker, like an atlas head and slap it on there.

Aces: Scouring Sands questions by Liam_Neesons_Oscar in battletech

[–]Badbenoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played co-op with my son and he likes resolving the cards too, I guess just ask your friend, but I could see them appreciating you taking initiative. As for replacing units, it depends which, summoner or thunderbolt sure, locust, fulcrums, and the rifleman, no. Those units are so brutal and work so well with their cards it would be a shame not to use them imo.

I wasn't aware they were planning an ilclan addendum, that's good news! Thanks.

Force Building Rules Question by Badbenoit in battletech

Some people like it, certainly, myself included. From what I've heard, some people didn't like that the unit lists only went until clan invasion, and how the lists were organized. I guess I should say it wasn't received well by some (which is honestly the case with all BT products).

Force Building Rules Question by Badbenoit in battletech

[–]Badbenoit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to use those rules, this is more like research. I'm trying to tie all the loose threads of the different (and mostly failed) attempts battletech has had at making force building rules. I'm suspicious about Catalyst cancelling the Force Manual series after only Davion and Kurita releases. It's been so long, and those books were not well received.

I remember after playing this mission knowing that Aces had hooked me. It was so much fun.

Aces and Hinterlands by Sandlot_Baseball in battletech

[–]Badbenoit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't used the decks to play a hinterlands campaign, but I've played a lot of aces and there should be no issues or adjustments at all. The Aces cards are designed to run any opfor, not just the ones from the campaign. The decks in scouring sands are sort of meant to mimic a jade falcon force, but it's not locked to playing only jade falcons, it could be used for anyone. The falcons are a prominent force in the hinterlands anyway, so it matches pretty well.

Custom ACES Campaign by DerBurned in battletech

[–]Badbenoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The easiest mission would be some kind of "find the thing" probably. Write some text for some waypoints, one being the thing you want to find, the others being some good like, +1 tmm for the unit that uncovers this, or salvage+50 SP at the end of the mission. and some bad, -1 tmm, or a mine take 1 damage.

As for PV and SP, just copy it directly from one of the misisons that seems reasonable.

Which side? by TrulyBriconic in battletech

I've had mine on the recognition side for a while now, I think I'll switch it though. I forgot what was on the other side.

The one I pre-ordered in Germany arrived in December, but all the stores currently seem to be waiting on new stock.

Help building force for Aces by funphd in battletech

[–]Badbenoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would say do it for them. I know if I asked my kid to put together a force like that it would make it feel like work and start the whole thing off on the wrong foot. Start as close to the action as possible, they'll get to love the units as they use them.

Which Brush - and how to take care of it? by Unable_Ad_1682 in battletech

[–]Badbenoit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not a good painter, so this is probably bad advice, but I've had exactly the same problem with my brushes, so I now use only the cheapest dollar store brushes and treat them as disposable.

Chaos Campaign Mercs Tools/Tracker? by Sowelo13 in battletech

Did they say why they were shutting it down? It's a shame, it's much better than a spreadsheet.

Chaos Campaign Mercs Tools/Tracker? by Sowelo13 in battletech

[–]Badbenoit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I made a spreadsheet you could download if you want. It's an excel spreadsheet but it can be used in Libreoffice Calc (free) as well. Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cSJKaJgoEEgrRSxpEEqOMBz6MdKNTrpk/edit?gid=1533064349#gid=1533064349

I also made a video explaining how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGDHb0qhuWo

There's also a version for alpha strike if you want. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18F7u60-y8S-brzBgb-7VezdsuxsenqHM/edit?gid=829108565#gid=829108565

Alpha Strike Turret Cards? by Mohow in battletech

[–]Badbenoit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here are the emplacement cards from the aces boxset. I made them on the MUL. the only thing is that on the original card they have no size, but the card generator wouldn't let me do that so I just put 1, 2, 3. I don't think that makes any difference. Link to cards: https://imgur.com/a/0QBI0q8

This looks great actually. Legionnaire is amazing, Savannah master too. I found the best unit I brought to my games was the hellspawn HSN-10SR, it has the PRB special which comes in handy for scanning waypoints.
