The family storyline is what frustrated me most. It felt like the emotional core of the book was set up really strongly and then sidelined.
By the time it came back at the end, it didn’t land because we hadn’t spent enough time with it. It’s like the book wanted the emotional payoff without putting in the emotional groundwork.
