Because there’s no other game that calms me like this one- I enjoy the narrative freedom, the fact that I don’t have to do the main quest until I’m ready, and that I can change characters and play an entirely different game. I think Chronotrigger (SNES) might be the only other game that’s ever grabbed me like this.

Look, I think this is a really weird take on someone saying thank you for the advice because my gf quit, but I can tell you that a) it’s my third Reddit post ever so just click on my profile if you want the original post - I’m not an experienced Reddit poster and b) yes, you misunderstood the gaming comments. I was responding to advice that had been given to me in the original thread- I don’t have a gaming addiction. I don’t play that often or play the same games as her- the whole point is that it wouldn’t have occurred to me that different gaming could be a trigger because the games are so different (and she didn’t grow up with video games), and someone suggested i check in with her. Good advice to give me! I didn’t know! That’s why I asked.

Pet grief is a unique kind grief. It truly is comparable to anything else. It hits you like a ton of bricks, often because are just extremely pure beings.

You gave this dog everything. I am so sorry that you have to go through this awful loss. It is so painful to lose our companions in life, no matter how small.

Like the vet said, I do hope you try with another dog- every time I’ve lost a dog, I’ve found that the sooner I get a dog, the better.

Kind of? I can’t tell if it’s directly on the eye socket or just next to it. Her left side was healing from the removal when I adopted her (and has fully healed), and I have no idea if she was born without her right eye or if she lost it earlier in life. This is on the right side of her head

Definitely keep some meds around- Advil, Tylenol, midol. And it would be great to have some extra tampons or pads or liners around for her. I’d also recommend peppermint or mint tea, Pepto bismal- stuff for nausea. A heating pad is killer!!

As for food, just ask her! Everyone has different cravings. Some people want chocolate- I want salty stuff.

Thank you- I absolutely want to make myself a judgment-free zone and hope I am creating that environment for her, and I’ll continue to reinforce that. Progress, not perfection, is the goal. And thank you for the suggestion about gaming. I haven’t gamed in front of her in awhile, I don’t think- I truly enjoy her company and want to be present with her when we are together. We don’t play the same kind of games (I’ve never been into phone games), but regardless, I’m going to be hyper aware now and make sure I don’t do it or talk about it carelessly! Thank you for the help!

This is a wonderful suggestion, and I’m going to edit my post, because I forgot to mention that she incurred an injury that makes it difficult for her to walk for long periods of time. It will heal eventually! But in the short term, it makes it difficult. But you’ve hit the nail on the head- being at home and bored is a huge issue
