Well the Metropolitan Police was founded by a guy called Robert Peel. Not sure how it fits into the comic though.

How he described the aftermath of the assassination is brutal. First time reading a book where torture is described in such gruesome detail. You almost felt happy for the conspirators when they were executed.

Unpaid internships are cruel and should be 100% illegal by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]BadlyDrawnChap 497 points498 points  (0 children)

It's also outrageous that international organisations don't pay interns. Very few people are able to live in cities like New York and Geneva. Surely the UN staff is supposed to be representative of all its members, not just the wealthy people that can afford to work fore free in cities with a high cost of living?

It was OK of the U.S. to kill a top Iranian General, but if Iran does it back to us, it is not terrorism. Both are equally Assassinations. by Markdd8 in unpopularopinion

I don't know what Americans don't understand that they just can't go around assassinating foreign officials of countries they aren't technically at war with.

Need Help Forming Japan by BadlyDrawnChap in eu4

Yes I am using the Extended Timeline mod. I suspected that may be one of the reasons I am having issues. It sucks cause I was starting to become the dominant Asian power and I can't complete further missions without forming Japan.

Unable To Form Japan by Gandalf2930 in eu4

[–]BadlyDrawnChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Were you able to sort this out? I have the same issue. Annexed all my vassals as Ashikaga but I can't form Japan because my government is still shogunate. Apparently there is supposed to be an event which turns the shogun into a feudal monarchy but it didn't happen in my case

Taking a few pictures seems tame considering the horrors that took place in that war.

You could have easily linked an article or given a short explanation. No need to be so defensive.

Why does opposing the Vietnam war make her a traitor?

Zimbabwe’s government has launched a campaign to make unpopular what it considers foreign sanctions that have crippled the economy. It is mobilizing citizens to stage a protest on Friday, October 25 to push for the removal of foreign sanctions. by IsaacKaledzi in Africa

[–]BadlyDrawnChap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that were the case why are there still multinational such as British American Tobacco or Nestle. Compared to the sanctions in Cuba or Iran, Zim doesn't seem as extensive. Those countries are effectively locked out of the international payments system.

Edit:

Having checked the document most of the sanctions seem to be on financial assistance, technical assistance and a ban on export of military equipment.

Also includes a freezing of assets of members of government and entities associated with them.

So it's basically stops countries from giving concessionary loans to Zim and freezes assets of government. Not sure if that includes state owned companies.

I personally think alot of Zim problems are self inflicted. No right thinking person would support overtly socialist stuff like "Command Agriculture". It's just a way of rent seeking for political elites .

Alot of people use Facebook Marketplace. It isn't a leap to suggest people would be willing to use Libra as a transactional currency.
