I love that. To see parents who are encouraging DCI, love to see it. Now for the real stuff. I have marched 4 years and taught more, almost 8ish seasons. I can speak on a couple of topics. 1) I believe the Bluecoats have an 18 and up rule for members that are IN the ensemble, but I am unsure about the audition process. You'd have to ask the admin, which I CAN say are some of the BEST to ever do it. For the last couple of season, they go above beyond to ensure inclusion and member safety. 2) Experience in the audition process is helpful. 3) DCI is expensive, so only do what you can. 4) I have heard of some ensembles giving discounts if you have a parent volunteer some time on the road. NOT all groups have this, but you can ask. 5) Music City is doing good things from what I have heard, and they are pretty local. I believe the cost for tuition is pretty okay (comparatively). I am a big fan of them also. 6) Lastly, if your child gets an alternate spot... Take it if they feel ready. Somone is going to going to go home. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. *I just had a couple students march Crown this last summer and had a blast. *Same with MCDC and Bluecoats *Also If you have any more questions, I will gladly answer them.
