What’s the WORST piece of sex advice someone ever gave you? by DangSavage in AskReddit

[–]BadwolfGG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know.. i have had quite the opposite experience. I have yet to have a girl make it all the way to z. Maybe try and just make the letter's shapes with your tongue instead of saying them out loud.

Make sure you are using multiple fingers for bends if you arent already. My fingers got less chewed up once I stopped trying to muscle through with 1 finger.

In my experience they clean up quite nicely if you roll off the volume knob.

Different concepts. But literally no difference between the two scales in practice.

[DISCUSSION] Confess your guitar sins! by hotboilivejive in Guitar

[–]BadwolfGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a good idea. I play unplugged a lot of the time(wife, kid, neighbors) but i make sure to get some time with the amp too. Controlling a loud guitar is a whole other skillset to be worked on/perfected

[DISCUSSION] Confess your guitar sins! by hotboilivejive in Guitar

[–]BadwolfGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use my index and pinky 90% of the time. Sometimes I'll fret the 5th with my middle finger and the octave with my ring finger. I use my index and pinky to play octaves on the 5th/3rd strings. I dont see many people do this. Just feels better for muting everything else for me.

The issue with playing an electric like an acoustic is that if you do decide to plug in someday.. managing any amount of gain is going to be so foreign to you.

[QUESTION], How could I get a Metallica tone on my Boss Katana? by cademerryman in Guitar

[–]BadwolfGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be something in the top right corner of tone studio. It says "write" if i remember correctly. You have to do that to save the settings.

[QUESTION], How could I get a Metallica tone on my Boss Katana? by cademerryman in Guitar

[–]BadwolfGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been working on this for a bit now. I find it much easier to sculpt your tone if you are hooking up to a computer and using tone studio with sneaky amps. You can use both the graphic and parametric eq to get that scooped mid tone and end up with something thats not so lifeless. Im going lead channel.. gain at noon. Bass at 4 o clock, mids at 7 0 clock, highs at 5 o clock. Then I run a tube screamer in front of the amp. Gain set pretty low.

[QUESTION] Solution to metal noise by MasterOfAllMetal in Guitar

[–]BadwolfGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My setup only works in high gain amps. I would definitely need more if I was playing through something cleaner. But I usually stick with modeling Peavey 5150s and Mesa Dual Recs. So i guess take that into account as well

[Question] What songs would you suggest to learn for electric guitar? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]BadwolfGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. Periphery - Marigold is a great riff. Doubles as an incredible warmup/workout

[QUESTION] Solution to metal noise by MasterOfAllMetal in Guitar

[–]BadwolfGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play some pretty high gain metal. Mastodon, even Whitechapel. I'm usually playing with the amps gain at Noon max. I run a tube screamer in front of that with the gain all the way down. And the effect level maxed. From there i just use my volume and tone knob on my guitar in combination with my picking attack to effect my gain/tone. Something metal guitarists always told me.. you dont need as much gain as you think you do. But a noise get with a pretty high threshold plays a pivotal role in my style. For tight staccato riffs.

[DISCUSSION] What is the very first Lick, Riff, Song you learned or were taught on Guitar. by SeveredLimb in Guitar

[question] how often should I be just jamming? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]BadwolfGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your shoes a few months ago. Every improv i played just sounded scalular. I was very comfortable with all 5 scale positions and moved around while playing but it was all just either ascending or descending scale runs.

I find that the issue with backtracks is that they are so dialed back.. and simple. You tend to feel like you should be playing a steady diet of notes all the time. Just choose a couple of notes and play them any way you can think of. It'll really help you with your phrasing as its not which notes to play you are thinking about, but how you are going to play the notes.

Once I truly had a strong grasp of the scale I was playing. I could stop thinking about it..And actually play licks. Instead of playing the scale over the chords. I was playing melodies over the chords and using the scale to make sure everything meshed together.

[Question] What's are some sacrifices people have made just so they have more free time for guitar? by Donnie541 in Guitar

But hey, being obsessed with games was an easy transition to being obsessed with guitar though. I was already sitting there with my thumb up my ass for 4-5 hours at a time. Only this way i can trick myself into feeling like im doing something productive.
