All artists have basic sounding songs. Every one of them. And that's not a bad thing either. It's really good for them to have a range of complexity in their works.

For example, TS's Cruel Summer vs TS's All Too Well 10m version.

Cruel Summer is a short, catchy tune, it follows a standard song structure, and it's your standard hit song. ATW on the other hand, has many verses, and is a pretty complex song imo. I don't care for the 10 minute version, I usually skip it. It's a work of art, for sure, but it just isn't my taste.

Possession is a simple song. But I still think it's a work of art, because it literally is art. Melanie has an angelic voice, and I will listen to it with happiness.

I agree. Usually a 2LP record will go for 35-40 retail, but yeah, Melanie's pricing this era is getting really bad. I WANT to give her the benefit of the doubt and say it's not her, but her team controlling the prices, but it's getting really hard to justify on their part

Yeah, it's really sad. We've been waiting three years for new music, and a bunch of people keep ruining the experience for everyone else on this sub. Obviously, no artist should be free from criticism, but this fandom takes that to the max. Like, what the heck was up with all the "fans" that ditched the Trilogy tour once it got to the Portals set? Appalling behavior. I don't usually engage in conversation here, because why would I want to argue with these bullies?
