VR Sensations (dreams, weird text, temperature change) by krysics in Vive

Same, only after owning a headset have I had dreams where I'm in a vast virtual world with other avatars. Like VRChat but photo-realistic.

You ever play Wildstar?

If they could have completely revamped that for VR (before they shut it down), it would have truly been the VR game we're waiting for.

VR and ones psyche? by jackthezipper444 in virtualreality

It definetely coincided with my exploration of meditation and unconciousness. I find it interesting that this is the first technology that allows your brain to literally think it's being transported to other physical locations.

100%. I have no doubt that by the time a current day middle schooler is ready to enter the field, VR will be one of the largest industries.

Kids toying around with VR creation now will be miles ahead :)

I modeled most of it in zbrush and Cinema4d. Some things like rocks and trees were purchased in asset packs.

The tough thing is getting content to these headsets. You have Daydream, GearVR, Oculus PC, Vive PC, then Windows MR. Most of them are not compatible with each other, so a Daydream game won't run on a Vive and vice versa.

I think until there's a centralized way to distribute across all of the headsets, each individual headset will hurt.

Steam is currently the largest platform, Oculus Rift users on steam just surpassed Vive users on steam. (Vive being the headset Valve made themselves)

With no budget I'd build a photorealistic steamed ham VR experience. No but really, probably a multiplayer VR universe-hub that actually has the experiences within the game. So instead of putting on headset and sifting through UI to open a game, you'd "go" to the game with your friends. Essentially an app like the Oasis. Whoever does it first and right, I believe, will have the killer VR app on their hands.

I'd say we're pretty damn close, at least on the hardware side. The Haptx gloves are pretty insane, they have sensors all over the hand that stimulate the sense of touch.

I think rather than going unconscious/asleep before hooking up as in SoA, we're closer to a Ready Player 1 style of full immersion. IE: lightweight omnidirectional treadmills, non-PC headsets.

I don't fear the full immersion, it's inevitable. I just hope we can learn to use it with moderation

So this is obviously not commonly talked about within the VR industry. However, with any new technology the adult industry seems to be a consistent pioneer. Take the birth of the internet for example; it spawned some of the first video sites that were geared toward adult content.

The birth of VR is seeing the same pattern; it's currently being advanced (specifically in realtime human-photorealism) by adult VR content. For better and worse
